Year 2 Done! Year 3 loading 🔥 This year was full of different challenges and many different new beginnings a major change first year as a GGL and SAA coordinator and becoming a fiancée through it all god’s sovereignty reigns high!

Gotta show love to our Grace basketball guys for the phenomenal month of April they just had. Four days a week for four weeks. Every single guy on the roster showing up and not only putting in the work, but bringing his teammates along with him as well. We couldn’t be in a better position to begin the summer than we are right now, and what we’re diving into here is proof of that.

Since late August, our guys have each jumped around 80 times on the force plates, so the averages you see in the screenshots are from an 8-month sample size. I gave them the opportunity to jump one last time before they head home for summer this past Friday, and eight of the guys took me up on the offer.

For context, our April program was all about tempo work. M/T were isometric days. Th/F were eccentric days. No jumping or plyometric work of any kind. This program targeted developing strength at various joint angles and through various ranges of motion in order to improve different phases/metrics of their countermovement jumps. If you need a refresher on the CMJ phases, scroll back on my page to the fall and watch that video series. This month of training focused on the unweighting, braking and transition phases.

Here’s a breakdown of the metrics I had the guys pay attention to last month:

- Countermovement (CM) Depth: How low their center of mass drops as they load up to jump
- Stiffness: Essentially, the amount of force produced at the bottom of the CM divided by the depth of the CM. This contributes heavily to how “springy” an athlete is.
- Force at Minimal Displacement: The amount of force produced at the bottom of the CM

The numbers show how hard the guys worked. Some truly ridiculous progress that is well above their averages, and while we weren’t really focusing on directly improving CMJ height or time to takeoff, nearly every single one of these guys improved on those metrics as well. Absolutely phenomenal work by every single one of these guys.

Now just wait till you see their numbers in September.
