IN FOCUS: AUTOBODY autobody (Part 1)

We are proud to present a selection of works curated by LA-based design gallery AUTOBODY autobody, including 8 of their artists, each with a piece as part of BILLINGSXLA. Below, in Part 1, we are presenting 4 of the designers and their works (all made in Los Angeles):

1) Joseph Santiago-Dieppa ‘Stool’ 2025 (Lot 427)

“Ball forms meet undulating steel lines and a warped leather grid in a shifting field of tension, where pressure, elasticity, and structure continuously reshape one another.” - Joseph Santiago-Dieppa

2) Grady Borte ‘Electric Chair No. 3’ 2026 (Lot 420)

“Sometimes a chair needs to do more than just be a place to sit.”- Grady Borte

3) Snyder DePass ‘Temple’ Drinking Tables 2026 (Lot 424)

“The Temple Drink Table is designed to move easily between utility and form. Their restrained geometry supports everyday function while holding a quiet sculptural presence in the room.” - Jonathan Snyder and Alejandro DePass

4) Claire Markwick-Smith ‘Low Surface Blocks’ Coffee Table 2026 (Lot 421)

“Once destined for automotive manufacture, solid blocks are sliced and imprinted, polished and painted. Form and surface transform as parts connect, and environments become living reflections.” - Claire Markwick-Smith

Been working on this project for over a year now, and we’re very excited to share :)

Please come see our first edition of indigo bootleg jerseys.

Special thanks to @oshepp for the first round of blanks, and @gradyborte for the 2nd round and additional sculptures.

Wow — what an amazing tribute to my hometown, Virginia Beach! Huge congratulations to @jborte @gradyborte @smallwave_andrew and all others involved in the making. Humbled to have been included and share some stories about growing up in VB, doing surf camps with Gurney, @justinbates09, @toeknee_swt, @ctodd75, & Jason, slinging merch with @kenhunt1 to buying one way tickets in search of surf. Thumbing through this past week has me homesick and ready to surf the pool... Be home soon 🍻

the Gneiss Bed [NICE BED] is directly inspired by Grady’s rock lighting and his wall shelf design - it is a natural evolution of ideas he already put out in the world and I’m incredibly grateful he was willing to collaborate with me and build on his distinct style. thank you G.
