POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

in light of the current administration’s attempt to sell off our public land, i went through my photos from the past (almost) 7 years of living in colorado to see what places i’ve recreated in, healed in, reconnected in, escaped in, would be eligible for sale to the highest bidder. the answer was MANY places. all of the places you see here were formerly up for grabs, or are very adjacent to places that formerly could have been sold off.

the provision in the senate budget bill proposed by a**hat utah senator mike lee has been removed, BUT he has come back with a revised provision that keeps BLM lands up for sale, adding up to 1.2 million acres of public lands eligible for sale across the western u.s.

it doesn’t matter what your political stance is. selling off our public lands in any capacity is detrimental to all. on a planet that humans have royally f*cked over again and again via capitalism and corporate greed, we CANNOT sell off more land to expedite ecological collapse, and further disconnect our species from mother nature.

CALL YOUR SENATORS AGAIN.
WRITE YOUR SENATORS AGAIN.
TELL YOUR REPUBLICAN AND MAGA FAMILY MEMBERS because I bet they don’t want this either.

we spoke up and put a stop to this partially, but we need to keep speaking up to put a stop to this for good. YOUR VOICE MATTERS and nature. is. not. for. sale.

also, nature is gay as f*ck. take these last few days of pride month to stick up for our public lands and our right to have access to public lands without fear of sale 🏳️‍🌈

on july 3rd i said goodbye to my best friend.

i’m not really sure how to put into words how much paisley means to me. she was the cutest, softest, quirkiest and most adventurous dog. she pushed her entire head under your arm if you weren’t petting her, randomly started playing fetch at age 8, loved to nap in the snow, would make you chase her around the yard to come inside when it was raining, LOVED popcorn, rolled in the grass any chance she got, once stole an entire sandwich off my leg while backpacking, always pretended to be RAVENOUS with strangers when hiking, took eggs out of the homestead chicken coop to just simply collect and bury in piles in the yard, thought the car was a teleportation machine that instantly took you somewhere new and exciting, once proudly put all the inside dog toys in a pile in the yard, and still got the zoomies even with all her vestibular disease crookedness and blindness in her old age.

she went through it all right beside me for nearly 8.5 years - d1 softball, moving to colorado, figuring out my sexuality, my first heartbreak, multiple knee surgeries, finding my happiest, truest self - she was the grounding force in my life no matter what was going on. always there to love me, so i made sure i was always there to love her.

she honestly did more than a lot of people do in a lifetime. she summited eight 14ers and many other mountains, went on lots of backpacking trips and hikes, traveled to both coasts and through 12 states, lived some dirtbag years in a skoolie and an airstream, and had human & four legged best friends that loved her tons. i think she lived a pretty damn full life.

i’ll never know how old she really was, but if she was about 5-6 as estimated when she wandered into my yard on march 15, 2016, all skittish and jumpy, i’m so lucky and happy to have had her the majority of years she trotted around planet earth.

i love you so incredibly much pais, and i will always miss you. you were the best dog i could’ve ever asked for. i hope you’re running through a grassy field somewhere it snows in the winter and get to watch some beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
