We are delighted to announce the Finalists of The Peter Hill Award 2026! 🎣

We had a tremendous number of particularly strong entries this time around so rather than our intended three, we have settled on four deserving Finalists. Congratulations to them:

🌟 The Hake Fish & Chips, Weybridge
🌟 Grandpa’s Fish Bar, Durham
🌟 Southwold Fish & Chips, Southwold
🌟 Burnetts Fish & Chips, Hythe

The winner of The Peter Hill Award 2026 will be announced early November, following the next stage of judging by Fred Capel, Nigel Hodgson and Calum Richardson, all former winners of the Fish and Chip Shop of the Year.

🍴Sunday lunch doesn't always need a roast - sometimes it needs fish & chips! 🐟🍟

...and we've got that covered at West Auckland Farmers & Indie Market - Sunday, 11th October 🙌

We're excited to be welcoming @grandpasfishbar to @gathernorthfm because we think there’s something rather lovely about a proper portion of fish & chips on a Sunday... and our order is already in 🤭

💫 So head to the Market Square in the rear carpark for all your street food needs; a lovely coffee, fish & chips and/or a crepe... AND of course an incredible line-up of Farmers, Makers, Bakers & Indie Traders! 🛍

📍📚 THAT’S A WRAP ON SUMMER 2026! 📚📍

And just look at all those pins… 🥹❤️

This summer, 1,050 FREE BOOKS were hidden across Stanley and Consett as part of the Look for a Book hunt — and seeing all those locations on a map really makes me realise just how much we’ve managed to do!

A HUGE thank you to every single person who got involved. Whether you went hunting for a book, shared a photo of where you found one, told a friend about the hunt, or sent me a lovely message about how much your children have enjoyed the excitement of finding a book and then sitting down to read it — thank you. 🥰

I’ve absolutely loved seeing the books make their way into your homes and hearing your stories. 📖💚

But there is one group of people who deserve the BIGGEST thank you of all…

✨ The 20 amazing local businesses who sponsored the hunts. ✨

Without their support, there wouldn’t have been 1,050 free books waiting to be discovered across our local parks this summer.

They’ve helped make reading exciting, accessible and FREE for local children — and I’m incredibly grateful to every one of them for believing in this little idea. ❤️

👇 Please give them some love!

If you see a business tagged that you haven’t come across before, give them a follow, check out what they do and let them know how much their support means.

And finally…

💡 Do you know a local business that might like to sponsor a future Look for a Book hunt?

Tag them below! 👇

I’d love to keep hiding books across Stanley, Consett and the surrounding areas — and who knows… maybe there are plenty more book hunts to come. 📚🌳

Thank you for making Summer 2026 so special. ❤️

A few weeks ago, we were just two girls with an idea… 👀

Two Surveyors — one 37 weeks pregnant 😮‍💨 and the other working full-time. We roped in our Dad (classic move) our retired Dad, who somehow manages to be the busiest man alive, volunteering here, there and everywhere after a life of mad working hours you’d think he’d want the rest #grafter

We wanted to create a food trailer. We LOVE pizza. But honestly? We hadn’t really got a clue where to start.

So we just gave it a go.

A LOT of research, endless hours of trialling, calling friends (cheers @grandpasfishbar) for help, testing, failing, learning, re-testing later… 🍕

We’ve realised that if you’re willing to work hard, learn as you go and just give things a good go, you really can create something from nothing.

And somehow… we’ve only gone and done it. ❤️🍕Box Pizza you’re worth every early morning and late night.🍕❤️ thanks to all of our stunning customers, we couldn’t do it without you! We have loved every event / pub / rugby club we’ve been to 💪🏼

*Special shout out to our mum for literally cleaning up behind us as we create chaos, to our husbands who pick up the slack when we’re busy making pizza - it takes a village and ours is FAB*

We’re at @baccanaliauk Hartlepool today 4-8 if you want your pizza fix - you’ll find Michael & Sara serving, say Hi 👋🏼

🎉📚 THE DOUBLE DROP REVEAL! 📚🎉

Did you manage to work out today’s locations? 👀

📍 SHOTLEY BRIDGE
📍 SOUTH MOOR

That’s where today’s 100 FREE BOOKS were hiding! 🎉📚

And our S theme was the clue all along… 😉🔎

A huge thank you to today’s sponsors @northchocolates 🍫 and @grandpasfishbar 🐟 for helping make today’s double drop possible and getting 100 books out into the community! ❤️

☔ Despite the rain, the books were safely tucked into waterproof bags — ready and waiting for their new readers.

Did you find a book today? 👇📚

Tell me where you found yours — and what you’re reading!
