POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What Waits Beyond.

What else are we to do in-between gigs - but create more gigs?! This film was birthed from a passion to experiment and learn through practice, and we sure had a lot of fun doing it. I wanted to try making something a little different, something very focused on its visual storytelling as well as its writing. I wanted to tell a story with mystery and heart Something that almost feels like it's grieving, yet still with a flicker of hope.

As with any production, the crew is the lifeblood. It was a pleasure to work with friends and acquaintances who I knew I could trust to help bring this story to life. It feels like so long ago that we shot this, and yet not long ago at all.

A very special thank you must also go to my sister, Cora. She joined the project when the deadline for casting was growing tight, and now I cannot imagine the film without her. She is an exceptionally talented performer who immediately breathed life into the character and demonstrated true skill, care, and commitment to the role that was wonderful to witness first hand. I was most fortunate to have the chance to direct her here and I greatly look forward to the next opportunity to do so.

To my crew, my team, I thank you. The two days this took were smooth and in an industry where tensions and problems can arise on a set as time gets tight, I never once had worry of that happening here. P.S thank you Dode (@dodeallenmedia) for the fantastic BTS photos 📸

Saturday was a FUN day filming

Worth every one of the eight washes it took to get the red dye out of my hair.

It gets a big-screen screening at the Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) on the 29th, and the awards ceremony is on 2nd November.

Our film, KILLER CONTENT, received SIX nominations (though no actual wins) at the INVERNESS 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT ceremony on Saturday.

And I was astonished to find that I was nominated in the category for BEST ACTOR!
Apparently I came 'close behind' the winner who was in the film that also won Best Film and Best Director.

We also received nominations for:
Best Cinematography (one of the big ones, and a great recognition for our super Director of Photography / Writer / Director / Sound Recordist / Graphics / Producer -- Grant Deans)

Best Graphics

Best Use Of Prop (required prop, sunglasses)

Best Costume (gotta be for that stripey blazer and bowtie combo)

Best Use Of Line (required line, 'That's ridiculous!')

It was filmed in one continuous shot over one day, so it was intense and hard work, but brilliant fun.
And the whole film was written, filmed, edited etc etc over one weekend.

There's a link in my biog to the full five-minute film on YouTube.

Meeting happiness.
That’s another 48hr film done with @grantdeans and a of the few same cast and crew.

Also worked with @sandyjackactor who’s his project, which I don’t have a lot of photos for.

So that makes 2 48hr film projects helped to complete this time round, Doing some BTS photography, filling in to do some voice lines (which I hope don’t get cut), and a little bit of sound and camera work.

Clearly had an absolutely terrible time directing my second film…

This was back in January and I’m still thinking about how much fun I had on set. So grateful for the whole cast and crew - they’re the reason it was such a blast to make. @connellymusic is plodding along through post-production and I’m loving how it’s coming together. Everyone really did phenomenal work!!

I’m almost surprised by how much I enjoyed the process (even if it was a staggering amount of work and I put a ton of pressure on myself 😅) and I’m already chomping at the bit to get to work on another project.

Got a lot of other things in the works right now, so it might be a minute until I direct again, but there’s definitely more to come 👀
