One of the things I love most about my class is ALL the amazing humans in it. Last week, while I was studying in Charles Hamilton Houston Hall, @grantfortune excused himself and asked if we could chat.

Although we are in the same section and in all the same classes, we had yet to have any meaningful interaction. So I closed my laptop and had an AMAZING conversation with my classmate.

In that conversation, I learned about his background as an actor and as a movie producer. So later in the week when @nbcwashington contacted me about doing an interview at their studio right down the street from @howardlawschool I asked Grant if he would come with me…and play BTS camera man. 🤗📸

Although I like to think that I’m a big girl, having the companionship of my uber talented, visionary classmate gave me a level of comfort and strength to make it through a highly emotional interview.

Thanks for having my back @grantfortune 💜⚖️🦬 #WeRollTogether #WeveGotTalent #TheresAClassmateForThat #HUSL29 #TheCollective

Back in early 2025, I saw a passage from a book that oomf (y'all remember "oomf," hahah) had posted...

the words hauntingly revelatory & divine in how they encapsulated the essence behind the action:

"Our elders say that ceremonies are the way we "remember to remember..."" "There is such tenderness in braiding the hair of someone you love. kindness and something more flow between the braider, and the braided, the two connected..."

I thought about these words from a stranger, how familiar they felt, as if they knew I was searching and somehow found me.

I also thought about IG's nasty algorithms and how the sheer odds of me seeing the post were very slim, yet there it was, timely and prophetic.

Mostly, I thought about how this entire sequence began when I picked up @goodguynhans "Still, I Give All I Have" in 2020 -- her style, her parlance, her words poignant and evocative. The entire book affecting and lingering within my viscera -- again, words finding me, knowing I needed them...

I could have never imagined her earnest sacrifices of vulnerabilities and intimate moments would be brought to life through the characters we built. so I'm thankful + grateful for you actually responding back in 2021 and still being all in with how the words were harnessed...

Now, as I sit in Cali, having used all my day's per diem to buy more drinks than I needed, I'm thinking about how reading a book is still our easiest method of time traveling.

and how someone else's words, thoughts, sentences, ideas can bring you closer to yourself, make you feel connected to something bigger, and feel less alone in a way that nothing else can. brazy, to say the least.

even brazier, are the words Prince serenades me with that prompted this post:

"...sometimes A man can't find words to express all the things he feels inside but every just so often the words of another who's truly in love seem to work out fine..."

so I thought to myself, "self, why not share this moment, in an effort to further connect..."

What you are seeing above is bts of SCENE 9. Shot by our wonderful AD @jolenetcarter & myself.

an extremely regal arranged & composed demo by @brooksleibee subtly scores it all

The first trailer for @papermademovie is finally here, and there’s no better day than Juneteenth to share it with the world.

This is my first feature film 🎬 and I’m honored to bring Kenny to life as well as be part of a film that represents brotherhood, sacrifice, purpose, and the journey to become something greater than yourself.

The journey begins 🔥

🍿 The trailer is OUT NOW.

Tap in, share it, and let me know what you think.

The world within the world our Production Designer, @tamiaedmonds, was able to craft, build, and implement, with the aid of our Art Director @shem_saffi, and the rest of the ART team, was extremely impressive.

the intentionality. Autumn just in the cut, playing its role. all the crimson persimmon & marigold -- the fact that there's gonna be 10+ shades of brown in this film -- man, all of it makes me warm...

I've always wanted one of those color palette breakdowns, so I made one myself.

(5.1) reshoot(s)... I don't know which take this video loop was crafted out of. It'll most likely make the final cut.
