Macklemore was willing to Think Out Loud about Palestine. Ed Sheeran was willing to silence him for it.

Macklemore stood in front of 90,000 people at MetLife Stadium, opening for Ed Sheeran, and said Free Palestine. He addressed Jewish people directly, saying, “To all of my Jewish brothers and sisters, criticism of Israel, apartheid and genocide in no way is a criticism of you.”

He made damn sure nobody could confuse condemning the actions of the Israeli government with condemning Jewish people.

He spoke about peace, dignity, respect, and equality for everyone. He spoke up for Palestinians while explicitly standing against antisemitism.

And for that, Ed Sheeran’s tour decided Macklemore no longer belonged on its stage.

Commissioner Gabela wants to turn construction fences into even more advertising space. Miami is already drowning in billboards, digital signs and commercial clutter.

Call Commissioner Gabela at 305-250-5430 and tell him to stop pimping out Miami’s visual landscape. Withdraw your Ordinance.

Packed house for the new Miami-Dade superintendent @rvillalobos10. Community leaders, the new superintendent and a squad of cheerleaders celebrated graduates from of local public, private and charter schools in the audience. The superintendent answered tough questions, praised teachers, and advocated for passage of the county public schools referendum on the November 3rd ballot.

Neither Carlos Gimenez nor his staff attended. He remains disconnected from aspects of local life that matter. Building and maintaining connections is a critical part of authentic representation that I will deliver in Congress.

A meltdown isn’t “passion.” And blaming the public isn’t accountability. My response to Commissioner Gabela.
