So many good memories already: stuffing our faces with incredible food, wandering through galleries, museums, going to concerts, and all the random moments in between that somehow end up meaning the most. Really grateful for your friendship + all the laughs, conversations, experiences we’ve shared. Looking forward to whatever’s next!

Late 2021 was messy, fun and full of hope. We recorded our first album with the help of amazing @micahpanzich in the control room.

Recently our song Pizza has picked up because of some random algorithm? (thanks internet!) bringing our attention back to this album, far from perfect but vital in our journey as friends first and then as a band.

Thank you to everybody involved, specially Andrew King (lead guitar) and Cameron (another fucking lead guitar lol)

‘Beau Soir’ (Debussy) is the second single, and only song on my forthcoming instrumental album SPA. Beau Soir is available wherever you like to listen, and I’m excited to perform this live with the SPA Ensemble at my vinyl release concert December 18 in Auckland. (Tickets via UndertheRadar)

The song represents a long-held affinity with French Impressionist piano composers. I first sang this while at University in Christchurch and had always wanted to record my own interpretation.

Thank you to @cloumusic for guiding my French pronunciation over multiple voice memos.

Hello, ICF+C! My name is Kate Ketcham @bluestockinchic, and I’m excited to host this account this week and share my work with this incredible community.

I’m passionate about light and color, character and story. I love that cinematography gives me the opportunity to think deeply about storytelling, character and images, and to try out new ideas and experiment.

I’ve taken a meandering path – I originally studied English Literature and Religious Studies – I’m fascinated by how people build meaning and connection in their lives. I also worked in art museums and took studio art classes. Cinematography gives me a way to put all these things together.

When I moved to LA, I studied at Los Angeles City College, where I learned the technical side of film and transitioned into crewing. I crewed G&E for a few years and was an AC for a few more before I went to the American Film Institute for my MFA. Now I shoot and teach and am generally on the freelancing rollercoaster adventure ride.

I work mostly in independent narrative, and that is what most of my posts this week will involve, but I also enjoy music videos, dance films, commercials, and documentary.

I live in LA, and I’ve been here longer than I’ve lived anywhere else, but I love many places, and one of my favorite parts of this career is the opportunity to travel, to explore and inhabit new environments. Please reach out with questions, thoughts, or anything – I’m so excited to connect with more people through the ICF+C!
