🕸️ The Cages We Endure 🕸️

"The point is not what the cage looks like or how it's built or how strong it may be. The point is that all cages can be broken, if only we find its weak spot"

The Cages We Endure is an anthology of tales about women finding revenge, autonomy, preservation, and perseverance in horrific situations. Though, these stories weren't horrific in a scary sense, none of the stories were truly terrifying "horror" to me, they were still emotional and suspenseful. Each story had an edge of tension, an ominous undertone, and a few solid twists.

My favorite of the stories was actually the first in the anthology "My Mother's Hunger" by Kayla Joy. In this story a woman finds a note left behind by her mother with a journal detailing her family's history and that's all I can explain because I don't want to give anything else away but it gets wild! The writing was phenomenal and the story was a blast. I truly didn't see where it was going and the ending had my jaw on the floor.

Overall, this was a pretty solid collection and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from these authors. Thank you to Grave Belles Press for the eARC! Release day for this anthology is today 🎉

It’s publication day for The Cages We Endure!

A horror anthology based around the theme “A Woman Trapped” whether those cages be metaphorical or literal is explored within these stories.

It’s been such a pleasure collaborating with @gravebelles to put together this exquisitely macabre project just in time for Halloween! 🖤

THE CAGES WE ENDURE is out now!! This anthology is about all the traps a woman can fall into, and how she beats against those bars. If you’d like to pick up a copy, the link is in my bio.

My story, FORTY WHACKS, follows Lizzie Borden in the days leading up to the infamous murd3rs. When Fall River is consumed by a mysterious blood disease, Lizzie must decide how far she’s willing to go to protect her town … and her inheritance.

I feel so, so grateful to have been included in this project. It’s a book full of nightmares, but working on it felt like a dream. 🖤🩷

“To be a woman in this world means to live with walls like none other; a complex, ever-evolving cage made just for you...” - Madison Tyler Nelson

Happy Release Day to The Cages We Endure an anthology that explores the cages that women are trapped in.

Some of those cages are physical, while others come from the expectations placed on women, relationships, fear, or even our own minds. I loved that no two stories approached the theme in quite the same way, but there was still this thread connecting them: the barriers women face and the ways we fight against them, survive them, and find ways to overcome them.

This was definitely a five star read for me and several of the stories I bookmarked to read again like Gossamer, and just in time for October when I might want to give myself a bit of a scare.

Links to purchase are in my story.

THE CAGES WE ENDURE
“To be a woman in this world means to live with walls like none other; a complex, ever-evolving cage made just for you...” - Madison Tyler Nelson

Our stories may look different, but our trauma and place in the world have become a shared experience. Women are placed in cages, those made of bars, those of the mind, and those of the roles and expectations placed upon us, and told to be quiet. But we don’t bend and break.
We fight back.

Happy publication day to The Cages We Endure!

I was honored to be selected to participate in the street team for @gravebelles and have the opportunity to read this collection as an arc.

I think that the whole collection was very solid, but to me, the standout stories were Ask Cassie by Alexandra Cameron and Anomaly by Ashley Graves.

Ask Cassie brings us the story of an AI created from the consciousness of a Hollywood starlet turned into a romance app. I think it was very timely with all of the discussions around AI currently.

I also liked Anomaly because it reminded me of all of the anomaly horror video games only with some very real consequences.

Definitely check this collection out. It can be purchased from:

💀 The Cages We Endure: A Woman Trapped Anthology—My story Anomaly follows a woman who takes a horrify job in order to support her brother and make ends meet.

💀 Twisted Tales To Tell In The Night: A Yuletide Anthology— My story Lost Christmas centers on a family recording their Christmas Eve and having an unexpected guest drop by.
