Silence Touch
Test Project 3
TW x JP Collaboration

This event came as the result of connections, sharing, and support. Last year, Gray and @silencetouch_music invited me to perform for the first time in Taipei. Since then, I’ve performed in both Taipei and Tokyo. I thank those who gave me a push.

Last year, when Gray visited, I was able to organise my own ambient event, “notari notari” and invited modular and other performers whose work I enjoy most. They all, somehow, said yes. That night, the room was so warm, open, and friendly. While a small event, it was a room full of friends, even those who hadn’t met.

So when, at the end of the event, there was a mention of doing something in Taiwan in 2026, I shouldn’t have doubted it. Nekomata Kengyo kicked things off, and soon we had plans. Eventually, Gray took the lead and shaped the event with a great balance of Taiwanese performers.

This meant a lot. Japan is home. It’s where I’ve spent half my life. Taiwan is a special place to me for so many reasons. I’m “from” neither (I wonder where I am “from” at this point), but to have strong connections with artists from both and to be accepted so openly means a lot. To be able to spend time with and perform alongside artists from both Japan and Taiwan who I respect, as well as meet so many others (even after the event through messages etc)—and have friends travel from hours away to see it—I’m truly lucky.

I’ve had many discussions about why I make music, and often I feel unsure. There’s a drive to create. A drive to express. If I’m honest, to be “seen”, too. But it’s these connections, these cycles, these moments that become motivation. I’m lucky to have been part of this event, and I can only hope for more.

To me, a good event leaves you wanting to immediately make something. The performances from the audio and visual artists did exactly that. This time, I was the one who started talking about future events. Let’s see what November looks like in Tokyo.

I’m very grateful to have been a part of this. Thank you Silence Touch and Gray, Stupin, and to all of the performers. I look forward to sharing a table and/or screen with you all again soon.
