@grayoakshomemade is a roadside bakery, but they are slinging out top-notch bread, pastries, and other desserts like your favorite established storefronts. Right at 9 on Saturday mornings, the doors to this little magical shed are unlocked and patrons are welcomed into a small but lovely space with BIG offerings. The samples sold my kids (I’m obsessed with the Gruyère and onion sourdough), and we left with several items we’re enjoying. I’m currently sitting with a slice of chocolate chip banana bread with my coffee. The cherry on top of this roadside treat? A book swap/library box from steward @meghan_readsbooks , a friend of the baker/owner of Grey Oaks Homemade. It’s only available on Saturdays when the shop is open! I love these community-focused roadside stands. It’s about sharing nourishment and treats, but it’s also about supporting one another. It’s about how one woman’s talents and skill help fuel both her neighborhood and larger community and how that community in turn helps support her goals and growth. It’s about sharing in something delicious and sitting in the small joys that help brighten our daily lives. I’m going to be a returning customer, but I think I may put in a pre-order from Sunday-Tuesday so my treats will be there after the initial Saturday morning rush! Hi lovelies!! I was thinking of you this morning and of the huge number of your kids who will go back to school this week. Others, like mine, are already back. It seems impossible but there are also small batch babies who were brand new when we met, and they are about to go to Kindergarten. That’s wild! We went through so much together! Thank you for being a beautiful and helpful part of my journey. While small batch is no longer, I’m barely keeping my sourdough starter alive but still baking for my kids. This is their breakfast treat for the week… blueberry lemon loaf. It’s loaded with Greek yogurt and only sweetened with raw sugar, so I’m not sure it is that much of a treat. 😂 What are you making for brekkie this week? Are your people sticking with Stanleys or on to Owalas this year? And do you want a homemade sourdough and baked goods hookup?
