POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Harry Greaney to speak at our Men’s Health Awareness event. With his permission, we are sharing his story here as part of Sarcoma Awareness month.

Three years ago, when he was 20 years old, Harry began experiencing pain, tenderness and swelling in his elbow. Eventually he was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, which is a rare type of soft tissue cancer that most often develops near joints, tendons or muscles, especially in the arms or legs. It usually affects teenagers and young adults, but it can occur at any age.

Over the next three years, Harry went through chemotherapy, radiation treatment and multiple surgeries. Sadly the cancer remained after his second surgery so last year Harry faced a difficult decision and had his right arm amputated above the elbow.

Today Harry is rebuilding his life. He has returned to work as a personal trainer and is back driving. He is also doing kick boxing, jiu-jitsu and MMA and taking part in competitions. Anyone who heard Harry speak at our event will testify to how positive and resilient he is. At such a young age, his strength, courage and attitude left a lasting impression on us all.

We’re excited to welcome Harry Greaney as another of our guest speakers. He's an inspiring voice with a powerful story to share.

Harry is a 23-year-old from Galway, known for his resilience and strength in the face of adversity. After being diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, he underwent intensive treatment and ultimately an above-elbow amputation of his right arm following a recurrence of his cancer. Since then, he has rebuilt his life through fitness and powerlifting, using his story to inspire others and raise awareness about sarcoma.

We hope you might join us here on Monday 15th June as 7.30pm to hear more of Harry's story. This FREE event is open to everyone.
