COACH TIME 💙🏉❤️

Name- Jen Goodall (Paws)

Job- Lecturer in Sport at Belfast Met and SERC/High Performance Rugby Coach for BMC Rugby Academy and owner of ReJenerate Sports Massage.

Coaching history -
- UUJ Women's rugby 2004-2008
- Belfast Harlequins U18s 2008-2018
- Belfast Harlequins Senior women 2008- Present (4 as Head Coach)
- Belfast Met Rugby Academy High Performance coach 2017-present

Favorite rugby memory - I've a couple... Winning the Ulster Shield for the second time, scoring the match winning try off the back of a line out in 2012/13?, beating City of Derry for the first time in years last season in the Ulster shield semi final, winning the championship with a golden season in 2020 and watching my boys do the League and Cup double in 2019!

Why do you coach? - honestly? I live vicariously through the players. My career ended suddenly through injury and I wasn't ready to walk away from the sport and a club that had given so much to me. Rugby has, for 18 years, given me great opportunities, solid friends, a career, opportunities of a lifetime, physical and mental health, life skills and immense joy. Nothing makes me happier than to see my players progress, even little things like hitting a line for the first time or smashing a tackle when you know they're nervous!

Not every day is a good day.... Not every season is a good season... But when you have a bunch of players who put their bodies on the line for each other and are there for you on and off the pitch... You realise you're a part of something very special!

Why Quins - I was one of the founding members of Harlequins 15 years ago this year! Throughout that time we've been working hard to build players from scratch from multiple different backgrounds. There's a lot of clubs out there that think women's rugby is a side show... I've never had a hint of that here, when we rocked up with an idea to start a women's side we were welcomed with open arms! Quins had always been a froward thinking, inclusive and dynamic club that I'm proud to be a member of

If we were a movie poster our slogan would be.…”Your photos will only ever look as good as we made you feel!”
.
.
Still not as catchy as “Catch me outside, how about that!” But we like it! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
