Broadway may be the destination, but some of musical theatre's most exciting journeys happen elsewhere. Off the Beaten Stage: A Broadway Adjacent Cabaret celebrates the hidden gems, cult favorites, international hits, and regional treasures that never made it to Broadway but have found devoted audiences all the same. From beloved contemporary musicals to overlooked classics, this cabaret shines a spotlight on the songs and stories that exist just beyond the bright lights of Times Square. Join us for an evening of extraordinary music from the shows that took a different path and prove that great theatre isn't defined by a Broadway address.

Never Would I Ever Cabaret at the @reverieroomnyc

Thank you so much to @birdandbelltheatreco for allowing me to perform! I had so, so, so much fun! Fell in love with this song during auditions and was so happy to get a chance to perform it! 💜💫

You’ve already seen their brilliance in the photos I’ve included in my review thus far, and their work will continue to speak for itself in this thread and the others I share. But I had to dedicate a post specifically to the technical aspects of this production, because my GOSH did those artists knock this one out of the park!

Lighting: @ziggybornas
Scenic Design: @emilymustillodesign

It takes a village to put together a show like this, so my apologies for not being able to tag every artist who contributed to this production. If you were a part of the tech crew, please comment with a 👋 and thank you so much for all your hard work! ☺️

Special shoutout to whomever designed and assembled the scaffolding, because that one set piece alone got so much play and worked for a variety of scenarios - from intimate conversations on swing sets to the many times a character escaped up the staircase to belt their heart out.

Starting at the beginning, this production places a new lens on the narrative, bringing MJ front and center from the very first moment Sarah Ford stepped on stage…

Swipe to slide 10 to read the director’s note about this choice and how the ensemble plays a nuanced role in the story 👀

It has been exactly one month since I had the privilege of witnessing NGT’s production of “Jagged Little Pill,” so I thought today would be a good day to share the video I took of the bows from that closing performance.

Every single player on this stage deserves their flowers. As does everyone working behind the scenes, including @_lanaschwartz_, the incredibly talented director of the show.

Lana is also the founder of @nxtgenerationtheatrics, and I want to give a special shoutout to this company, because knowing that this whole thing was put together by young artists just makes it that much more impressive to me. I feel like I got to witness a bunch of future Broadway stars before they’ve been discovered, and that is perhaps the best gift a theatre buff like me could receive ✨ I cannot wait to see what these performers do next!

I, of course, have many things to say about the show, and I promise a detailed review is coming very very soon. So keep an eye out! 👀
