Great to take part in the Screen Sustainability Expo at Clermont Screen Hub on Monday! 🎬💡 A really worthwhile morning showcasing Eco Light's battery-powered tower lighting and meeting people from across the Irish film and TV industry. Our Milwaukee MX FUEL towers provide practical, low-noise temporary lighting for unit bases, location shoots and production support — without the need for diesel generators. Great conversations and plenty of enthusiasm for more sustainable approaches to film production. Big thanks to Daragh Goan and team for organising. 📍 Wicklow | Ireland-wide hire 🌐 ecolightservices.ie #EcoLightServices #ScreenSustainability #IrishFilm #FilmProductionIreland #BatteryPoweredLighting #LocationLighting

A day of fresh ideas, new connections and filmmaking inspiration! 🎬✨ Our recent Hothouse workshop day was a brilliant chance for all our young filmmakers to meet and learn from the best. We explored producing with @eamon_hughes, sustainability with @greenfromscripttoscreen and all things DOP with the fantastic @fionnuala_mccormack before rounding off the day with Fresh’s longtime mentor @lauraoshea91 A huge thank you to our guests for sharing their experience and insight, and to our young filmmakers for bringing such enthusiasm and curiosity. With shoots kicking off over the coming weeks, it’s nearly time for “action!” and for @charlie.animates stop-motion film, the magic will happen one tiny movement at a time! 💛 #FreshFilm #Hothouse #irelandsYoungFilmmakers #talentdevelopment

I had such a great time @climatecocktailclub #climatecarnival2026 this week pitching my feature film idea LOVE LEITRIM inspired by the true story of the amazing rural community led organisation @love_leitrim who helped bring about the ban on fracking in Ireland in 2017. Thank you to Elaine Walsh and @thegoanbrother from @greenfromscripttoscreen for selecting me for this wonderful opportunity and well done to my fellow writers @helenladams @davselva @norafleadh Alissa MacMillan and @markmcclean01 for sharing their fantastic stories too. Can’t wait to see them all on the big and small screens one day! #climatestories

Delighted to pitch Selkies @climatecocktailclub with @greenfromscripttoscreen Selkies, is an episodic eco‑thriller and supernatural drama developed through the @stowestorylabs and was very much at home there. After pitching Selkies @scottish_screenwriters_fest last weekend you might think I would be well practiced but every pitch brings different challenges, holding a mic while juggling notes all the while reading a room full of climate practitioners rather than filmmakers. But I love a challenge! The public conversations were lively and generous and meeting my fellow writers and bracing together before the pitches was lovely. Love you guys💞 The wonderful Elaine Walsh Co-founder Green from Script to Screen brought calm and clarity along with co founder Daragh Goan this is exactly what the Irish film industry needs to drive a credible green film agenda from script to screen. Elaine is a brilliant "creative wrangler/writer whisperer" who gently guided me alongside fellow pitchers Helen Adams Mark McClean Aideen McCarthy Alissa MacMillan and David Selva Each unique pitch was brilliant, delivered with passion and elegance, and was enthusiastically received by the audience. Selkies sits at the intersection of myth, migration and climate politics and was perfectly placed at the Carnival because it invites scientists, activists and producers into the same conversation about ethical framing and sustainable production 🌱 Speakers in the various podiums reflected on once‑touted “advanced solutions” that we now know caused more harm than fixes - asbestos, DDT, heavy Roundup dependence and monocropping. AI is now joining that list of solutions nobody asked for. It carries hidden carbon costs from massive data centres and resource intensive model training, gobbling up huge parcels of land and draining our reservoirs. The costs are to the climate in energy and e‑waste and to film in diminished craft and over‑reliance on generative shortcuts⚡️ Thanks to the organisers and everyone who made space for story, connections and climate unity. Looking forward to the next one 🥰 GRMMA 🙏

My TV series Selkies has been selected as one of five finalists to pitch at the @scottish_screenwriters_fest & @climatecocktailclub 🤗 The @scottish_screenwriters_fest theme is "Strong Ground," am bringing my Clann & Selkies with me for our first trip to Glasgow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 At Selkies core is a teenage refugee with a saltwater soul in search of home who becomes the key to uniting a coastal community to stop a biotech corporation from drowning the world. 🌍 It's an eco thriller, supernatural drama, and young adult series. As a mother of four with kids spanning three gens,Millennials, Gen Z & a wee Alpha, I wrote it for them💞 Huge thanks to Maureen Hascoet & Christine Hartland of @mysmashmedia.callouts for the pitching workshop yesterday evening. Brilliant 👏 But that is not all. Selkies has also been chosen to present at the @climatecocktailclub gathering at Ballintubbert House, Stradbally. A fantastic two day climate, culture, and oceans event, packed with talks, workshops, live performance, and changemakers from across Ireland. Pitching to an audience of climate experts is both an honour and a slightly terrifying privilege. These are people who have dedicated their lives to the science, the activism, and the hard graft of protecting our planet. What feels truly novel and inspired is that the Climate Carnival brings storytellers and makers into the same room (or rather, tent) as the dedicated experts. We all need to get our shoulders behind the movement, as art and activism stand side by side. I am immensely honoured and grateful to be given the opportunity 🌿 Thank you so much to the brilliant Elaine Walsh Development Script Editor/Producer Co-founder Green from Script to Screen and to Daragh Goan for yesterdays extended lunchtime pitch session. Lots to process, lots to be overwhelmed about but am keeping myself grounded, back @LSAD today for semester kick-start 🤗 Two festivals. Two pitches. One story that asks: Who belongs to the land, who are we willing to sacrifice, and what are we willing to protect when the water rises? Here we go. 🌊 #Selkies #ScottishScreenwritersFestival #ClimateCarnival #Screenwriting #Clima

🎬 What happens when the stories we watch start changing the story of climate? Daragh Goan, filmmaker, climate activist, Co-Founder of Green from Script to Screen, joins Climate Carnival 2026. Working at the intersection of film, television and sustainability, Daragh works to reduce the carbon emissions and waste associated with screen productions in Ireland. His credits include Wednesday Season 2 and NBCU’s Abigail, which was nominated for the Sustainable Production Award at the Global Production Awards 2024 in Cannes. At Climate Carnival, Daragh brings a fascinating perspective on the role the screen industries can play in climate action. Because culture doesn’t just reflect the world around us. It helps shape what we imagine is possible. And when millions of people are watching, storytelling becomes a pretty powerful place to start. 📍 Ballintubbert House, Co. Laois 📅 16 September 🎪 Climate Carnival 2026 | From Silos to Systems ⏳ THREE WEEKS TO GO. 50+ speakers. 30+ sessions. Four stages. One very different climate gathering. 🎟️ Come join the conversation.
