Escape from L.A. (1996) sees Kurt Russell return as Snake Plissken, this time thrown into a dystopian Los Angeles cut off from the rest of America. Bigger, stranger and more over-the-top than Escape from New York, it takes Snake through a wild apocalyptic version of L.A. 🌴
.
I’ll start by saying that compared to the first movie, this isn’t considered a great sequel or, to some, even a good movie. I wasn’t a big fan when I first saw it either, and that opinion stuck through several rewatches over the years. Revisiting it recently, though, I found a lot more to enjoy. The CGI hasn’t aged well, but I can forgive that as a product of its time. Kurt Russell is still brilliant as Snake, and I love the characters, costumes and overall look and aesthetic of L.A. My biggest issue is how closely the plot follows Escape from New York, which is still the superior film. But if you can put those issues aside and enjoy it for what it is, there’s a lot of fun here. Definitely worth revisiting if you wrote it off years ago!

What other John Carpenter movies do you love? His films with Kurt Russell are the gold standard for me, but what other underrated Carpenter movies deserve more attention? And if you’ve read this far, thank you for checking out my design! I really appreciate it. Feel free to like, comment and share it out, and hopefully I’ll get around to creating more Carpenter designs in the future! 👀

In the Mouth of Madness (1994) is one of the greatest psychological horror films ever made. Starring the incredible Sam Neill as insurance investigator John Trent, the film follows his search for a missing horror author whose terrifying stories begin to blur the line between fiction and reality. As Trent descends deeper into madness, he discovers a nightmare where sanity itself can no longer be trusted.
.
This film has only gotten better with age. Its clever, unsettling story, Sam Neill's phenomenal performance, and John Carpenter's masterful direction all come together to create a horror classic that still feels fresh, disturbing, and unforgettable today. It's one of those rare films that stays with you long after the credits roll.
.
I'm rushing to post this following the heartbreaking news of Sam Neill's passing. May he rest in peace. What an incredible talent he was. Beyond his amazing performances, he always came across in interviews and public appearances as a genuinely kind, sincere, and gentlemanly man. He will be deeply missed, but he leaves behind an incredible body of work for us all to enjoy.
.
This has always been one of my personal favorites. If you've never seen In the Mouth of Madness, I seriously urge you to seek it out and watch it as soon as you possibly can 👍
.
Outside of the obvious classics like Jurassic Park, what are some of your favorite Sam Neill performances? I'd love to hear your picks in the comments below. Feel free to share this design as well and help spread a little more love for Sam 🙏

John Carpenter's The Thing (1982), starring Kurt Russell, is widely regarded as one of the greatest science-fiction horror films ever made. Set in the frozen isolation of Antarctica, the story follows a team of researchers who encounter a terrifying extraterrestrial organism capable of perfectly imitating any living being. As paranoia and mistrust spread through the group, the line between friend and enemy disappears, creating one of cinema's most unforgettable survival horrors 😱
.
Over forty years later, The Thing remains an absolute classic. The phenomenal cast, led by the ever-brilliant Kurt Russell, the suffocating atmosphere, relentless tension, haunting score, unforgettable ending, and Rob Bottin's groundbreaking practical effects all combine to create a film that still feels fresh today. It's one of those rare movies where every element works together perfectly, and it's easy to see why so many horror fans continue to rank it among the greatest films ever made.
.
I've always found The Thing to be one of the hardest films to approach when designing a poster. So many incredibly talented artists have created amazing artwork for it over the years that it's difficult to think of something original. For this piece, I decided to put Kurt Russell's McReady front and center, simply because Kurt Russell has always been one of my favourite actors of all time, and I wanted this design to celebrate both the character and the film.
.
I'd love to know what you've taken away from The Thing after all these years. What did you think of the prequel? Have you ever played the video game? And what other John Carpenter films deserve a special mention? Please leave your thoughts in the comments below! As I always say, feel free to like and share this image, not just to support my work, but to remind people that The Thing is still absolutely worthy of their time and maybe even another rewatch 👀

The Nice Guys (2016) is a hilarious action-comedy set in 1970s Los Angeles, following down-on-his-luck private investigator Holland March and tough enforcer Jackson Healy as they reluctantly team up to solve a bizarre missing persons case. Packed with sharp dialogue, outrageous situations, and plenty of mystery, it's a throwback buddy movie with a unique style all its own.
.
One of the best things about The Nice Guys is the incredible chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. Their performances perfectly balance comedy and action, making every scene entertaining. It feels like one of those films that has only grown in popularity over the years, with more and more people discovering what a clever, underrated gem it really is. Many fans still hope for a sequel, and it's easy to see why.
.
Have you seen The Nice Guys, and if so, what did you think of it? Is it one of your favourite buddy comedies of the last decade? I hope everyone has an amazing summer this year, and thanks as always for the incredible support. Please like, comment, and share the design if you enjoy it! 😊
