The SLN Black Book 🖋

Every studio has a black book. Mine has been years in the making. The sources, makers and places I come back to again and again, across every category. I’m finally sharing it here, one category at a time.

Edition No. 1: LIGHTING 💡

It feels fitting to start here. My name means “my light” in Hebrew, and I’ve always had a particular relationship to light - how it shifts a space, changes a mood, and sets the energy of a room.

One day I’ll run for city council on the sole platform of banning fluorescent lighting from our streets!

Until then, scroll and save. xx

Cool Ranch. Near Yeehaw Junction in Florida, inland from the costal town of Vero Beach, a long-time client purchased a working Red Angus cattle ranch. I designed the ranch's residence, known as a cracker house after the sound made by cowboys cracking a whip. Improbable as it might seem at first, I used a mix of @greenriverprojectllc and @jm_szymanski furniture with mid-century pieces by #pierrechapo. A Moroccan Taureg carpet @hannoun_rugs underlays it all. The hand- painted Green River Project sofa depicts aspects of the ranch and the client's life. Just about as bespoke as it gets. Comfy, too.

𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗦𝗘

While much of our work is rooted in British craftsmanship and expertise, this Notting Hill project involved the coordination of specialist makers and suppliers from across Europe and the United States.

Working with Schotten & Hansen, Smet, Lanserring, Maleville, Féau Boiseries, Green River Project, Atelier François Pouenat and Van Cronenburg required detailed coordination across design, manufacture, logistics and installation.

Our role was to manage each specialist element through manufacture, delivery and installation.

PAPERFOLD PAVILION

We are thrilled to share the restored and reimagined Henbest Residence originally designed by the mid-century master Pierre Koenig in 1966 featured in @wallpapermag !

Our warm, crafted interpretation focused on a natural modern aesthetic of Koenig’s iconic post and beam ‘paperfold’ structure with lush desert gardens by @terremoto_landscape

Huge THANK YOUs to the Wallpaper team, especially @michaelreynoldsnyc for producing this story, @jessnritz for the wonderful words, @samfroststudio for the beautiful images and @amykchin for the brilliant stying 🤎
