Follow up about Greg Kulz’ back piece, done by a piercer named Vaughn Knight— this is from Charles Gatewood’s San Francisco. I’ve posted other images by Gatewood here as well and will post some more soon. He did some really beautiful documentation of the tattoo/piercing/body modification scene in the 90’s — I know Instagram in now the place where we all experience images of tattoos the most, and directly from the artists themselves but I wonder who are the great photographers documenting tattooing now? If you know some please tag or share

Also in this clip is the behind the scenes of this really beautiful photo - there’s the live shot of it at the end — Greg’s client Hillary with healed zebra stripe leg pieces and fresh woven blackwork sleeve plus Greg’s back— will post some more Gatewood photos soon

Much love to

It it started with cool breezes and a bunch of friends finding them each other in dancing then came forgiving clouds and a beautiful sunset I love dancing with these weirdos

Are ghosts echo's of the past? If we look at them that way we could also conclude that seance is a way to conjure the echos of those who have been captured by the mentalist or channel conjuring knowledge and feelings that has been captured from the past and giving them a voice. Likewise, when we train AI we are capturing the knowledge of countless individuals into a “model” that can be conjured. Are our modern language models a form of conjuring synthetic ghosts?

Memories of my first homemade site, I did everything from the bad photoshopping to the costumes, aside from the sidekick character designed by famous tattoo artist at the time Greg Kulz. Best friend @stowexplorer unearthed some of the images many years later and I was SO HAPPY! It always haunted me why EarthLink would do this to a 7+ yr good customer #earthlink #dollirium #y2k #amatuerwebsite #90s #latexclothing #fashiondesign #graphicdesign #photoshop #humandoll #genx #starseeds

It is a real privilege to present an interview with, in my opinion, one of the most significant piercers in history. Vaughn opened up the second body piercing studio in America, exposed piercing to the masses outside the leather community, and is one of the most prolific critical thinkers to enter the field. Want to know more? We put together the most comprehensive Vaughn guide ever, and even though the pre-order sold out keep your eyes peeled because if you honestly give a shit about history you can’t afford to sleep on this #sacreddebris #history #piercing #bodypiercing #piercings #blog #interview #oralhistory #bettersafethenari #blurb #book #sanfransisco #sale #buy #support #read #love

11 years ago today, Erno Gabriel Szabady passed from this Earth. He was a very unique & fascinating person & the first tattooer to truly introduce me, at the time a 23yr old snot-nose kid, to the world of real tattooing & I am forever grateful to call him my tattoo dad, a friend, & a compatriot. Rest in peace, old soul, I miss you all the time. #ernoszabady #tattoolegend #sanfranciscotattoo #lowerhaightsf #fillmoredistrictsf #ernotattoo #backinthe90s #americanatattoos
