I have always loved hosting. And so when a group of friends decided to be deliberate about hosting dinner parties with new and old friends and faces, I could not have been more pleased!

This weekend was my turn to host, and our three course menu found its inspiration from the new @tony_jackman_cooks Retro Karoo Food book: butternut soup, orange& lavender lamb potjie and a seven-peppermintcrisps tart!

So friends, whether it’s 5 people around a wobbly dining table or a lavish themed a fair- I hope you feel as inspired as I do after having a good evening with friends in my home. ♥️

Shoutout to @sunnytembani and @danielamajozi (especially for the cover photo!) for the added content in this reel 😍

Dropped in at Saffa So Good this morning, a great initiative by @gregorybakker to get new people together at @our_local once a month on a Saturday for the love of running, coffee and good chats - it’s all good 👏💯

The Bridge :

an illustration inspired by the story of Genesis and the mysterious power of love as a binding force.

To experience true love is to experience paradise - a state of being where the separate is made whole. To live in love means to live on the bridge where we encounter that separateness with openness and grace. Like the mysterious biological forces that enable all our different organs to work together so that we may experience life or the cosmic forces that keep the universe perfectly balanced, so too does love have a binding effect that lifts us from our earthly individual selves so that we may experience the transcendent heavenly state of divine union. . Union cannot exist without difference, borders and separateness. Because then there is nothing to unite. This is why boundaries are so important in relationships, between countries and neighbours. Union without love is like cancer. Great for the cancer but lethal to the separate organs it destroys. Love recognises the heart and the lungs. It celebrates their different purposes because when united they can serve an even greater one. Love is the bridge where we meet, not to become the same people, but to serve the same purpose. . Human consciousness is the fruit of love. That is why when we experience love, particularly romantic love, it gives one a sense that the loop of ones life has been closed. To live in love is to participate in the force of all creation. To live in love is to arrive back where it all began.

To live in love is to live on the bridge that unites.
