One of the biggest challenges on this Wiz journey was finding my sound in this iconic song.

“He’s The Wiz” originally belonged to Addapearl, the Good Witch of the North —better known as “Ms. One” from the 1978 film adaptation. Stepping into a song with that kind of legacy attached to it was both exciting and terrifying. I knew this version had to be mine—just with a little more sass, a little more jazz, and a whole lot of Glinda. And whew... it definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone! 😂

It was so important to me that I found my own voice and didn’t try to mimic anyone who came before me. That took time. But once I found my Glinda, WE HAD A BALL!

Singing this song over 400 times, through 8—and sometimes 9—shows a week, was absolutely NO JOKE. But what a gift it was. To share the stage with such incredible artists, tell this story night after night, and watch audiences fall in love with it all over again was truly a dream.

There’s so much more to share, but for now, I am deeply grateful to @schelewilliams, @josephjoubert88keys & @jaquelknight for helping me find an honest, genuine place in this role, for shaping the staging and vocal choices and for encouraging me to make Glinda my own.

What an honor. 💖✨👑

I’m finally allowing myself to close such an amazing chapter in my life.

I often ponder that if I had known my last show with @thewizbway were my last, would I have done it differently? I believe the answer is no. When I received the news that I had booked this tour, not only was I excited, but I knew the responsibility it would be to be in this cast, to tell this story, and to carry a legacy 50 years in the making. I realized how important this show is. I realized how so many people across the country needed this! The Joy- the Black Joy, the laughter, the love, and to witness this story being told in the style of themselves and their culture. So no, I wouldn’t have done it differently because every time I set foot on stage- I carried those truths in my heart.

Happy Closing to the 1st National Tour of the 50th Anniversary Revival of the Wiz! I’m so blessed to have met this cast, crew, and creative team. I’m so fortunate that my first ever Broadway tour was The Wiz. And I’m so grateful to say that I’m forever apart of this legacy.

I hate that I couldn’t finish this journey with y’all (injuries suck, haha)! But I’m so proud to call all of you my friends and colleagues.

Love y’all lots!
Thanks for a great time.
You made it! 💚
