our second (proper) Lightworks show. another attempt at mixing music events and care, another of us experimenting with the root idea that music spaces can still hold us - na always need to drain us. and it was great, honestly. had a genuinely lovely time, and it’s always a good sign when you’re thinking ‘ah wanna do this again now’ as soon as the event finishes. wanna go through all the stress again! haha.

to our masters of sound @omallexa @imani.ruizx @offlicencemagazine @lovellious_ thank you for guiding us and helping us energise, reflect, sit, dance, lay, whatever it was we needed whether we knew it or not. thank you all of you. shouldn’t really have favourites but mate, Allexa Nava, you are insane.

thank you to @mindbodyandearth for once again bringing your colour and warmth to the space, becoming a bit of a Lightworks staple now! when we do an 1000 person 3 dayer maybe you’ll have a whole village there??

thank you also to @benw.ilson for the siiiiiiick visuals! our first time implementing any sort of visual/projections/lights/typeshi into our show n it was definitely a new and interesting challenge for us, but you killed it. really cool. thank you.

then yeah blah blah big ups Jed big ups Lev yeah whatever, boring. no but for real everyone behind the scenes, the tech and sound, the bar, the comms, the capturers, all the people you don’t see. integral. thank you. and to the old market for having us, letting us in the space to try out Lightworks again and supporting us, the biggest thank you @tomvenue ❤️🫂

most importantly big ups to you man, big ups to everyone who came and checked out what we’re doing. big ups for being here in the early days. even if you only arrived once the lights had literally come on and the music had literally stopped (Giles), still means the world.

A reminder of the beautiful ripples that 60 years of Notting Hill Carnival has created.

@barcobrighton and their annual BASH happened this summer of the sixth time, and is growing year upon year.

We’ve had the honour of broadcasting the soundsystem stage around the world via @offieradio, hosted and assembled by the legendary @kingtafarilove, Brighton’s original soundsystem crew.

You can listen back to the broadcast via our @mixcloud, with over 8 hours of roots, dub, reggae, lovers rock and more, recorded and archived as live from St Ann’s Well Gardens.

Huge thanks to July’s Offie Mag Social attendees who raised £655 for BARCO by copping tickets, to @plentyppl for providing the music and more, and to @alphabetbrighton for hosting and waiving the hire fee in support of the fundraiser.

There are hours and hours of community radio up on our @mixcloud for playback, originally recorded with a live cafe audience at Pink Moon.

We’ve been there pretty much every Sunday all-summer long and following a short break for festivals, carnivals and just a bit of time for our producers to relax, we’ll be back to it from September 20th.

Offie Radio, each and every Sunday at Pink Moon from there on, where something big is brewing.
