WHY TI WEDNESDAY?

Greta Smith freshman from Colonel Crawford is going to share a little bit of why she chose to be in teen institute, and what it means to her!

“Why are you in TI?”
There are so many reasons that I’ve continued to stay apart of Ti. One of the big ones is some of the amazing friendships I’ve made. I loving going to Ti events knowing I’m going to leave with so many new friends. The people at Ti are truly so amazing and people I will forever choose to surround myself with. Being apart of TI has been a blessing. I love when people associate me with Ti bc it’s such an amazing organization that makes me feel right at home.

“What does TI mean to you?”
Ti is more than just being drug free. To me, it means stepping out of your comfort zone and connecting with new people. It’s about choosing to be drug free not only at Ti functions but all the time, showing others that you can have a blast without drinking. Ti gives you the freedom to be yourself without fear of judgment. Over the years, being part of Ti has made me realize that you don’t have to pretend to be someone you’re not. The amazing friendships I’ve made through Ti are priceless, and the fun at Ti events is something I always look forward to. The leaders of Ti are truly outstanding—they inspire us with their dedication, guide us with kindness, and lead by example, making the whole experience even better. Ti isn’t just an organization; it’s a community where you grow, laugh, and thrive together.

Proud to say that I overcame the battle… the battle of sticking with something that not only was physically tuff but mentally. Not many can say they ran 3.1 miles every Saturday morning, but i’m proud to say I did. I won’t necessarily miss the extreme summer mileage, or the dreaded Tuesday and Thursday pace days, but I most definitely will miss the family that XC gave me. I can honestly say that you won’t get another family bond in any other sport like you do in this one. Through all the tears, the pain, the ups and downs, the hard workouts, the moments of success, and the times of joy my teammates were always right there with me. The only person you are competing against in a sport like this is yourself. I’ve learned how to overcome so many mental battles with this sport that will help me later in life, and better me as a person. I never thought I would say this but i’m so glad I stuck it out all 6 years. I wouldn’t be who I am without XC and my teammates!

Specially shout out to my best friend Greta! The one who brings laughter and joy to every practice, and never left my side. I’m gonna miss you Gretchen❤️ Thank you for everything.
