At the threshold where material behavior translates into form, the logic of a stress-strain curve becomes, unexpectedly, a body. Zoe’s dual education in materials engineering and apparel design allows her to move fluidly between calculation and intuition. Between the laboratory and the studio she translates the physics of stress, deformation, and transformation into wearable structures that inflate, circulate, shield, and reorganize around the human body. Each look operates as a distinct mechanical system where the process becomes a collaborator, yielding forms that are uncanny in their organicism. Function does not hide beneath form. It becomes form.⁣

“Materials are the core of each garment. My background in biofluid mechanics and aerospace textile engineering informs how I combine fibers and matrices to create structures that function almost like super materials. These principles guide each look. I work with found materials not for their origin, but for their behavior. Gym mats, for example, offer an elasticity that is both structural and collapsible. For the look centered on failure and new equilibrium, I deconstruct performance sneakers until they are no longer recognizable. What matters is how a material used for one purpose can be reconfigured, allowing its function to be translated entirely.”⁣

At the threshold where material behavior translates into form, a stress-strain curve becomes, unexpectedly, a body. This collection investigates the physics of tension, deformation, and transformation through structures that inflate, compress, circulate, and shield, reconfiguring the human body into responsive, wearable systems. My dual education in materials engineering and apparel design allows me to move between calculation and intuition, understanding that form is not imposed on matter but coaxed from it, drawn out of the logics embedded in molecular structure, growth patterns, and environmental pressures.⁣

This past summer, Jersey Bonds family moved to Upstate New York, leaving behind their home of 25 years to embrace a new rural life at Breezy Hill. This shift has sparked a deeper conversation with self. Breezy Hill serves as both the title and a visual representation of a poem Jersey Bond wrote during this transition. The poem explores themes of healing, cyclical transformation, and natural harmony, reflecting the discomfort of stepping away from the familiar into a space of renewal. The characters, The Meadow Walker, The Plant, The Pollinator, The Healer, The Nest, The Soil, The Owl, embody the beings of Breezy Hill, each representing a part of Bond’s journey.⁣
