New York is a different ball game forsure. Really captures the pure essence of graffiti. Tags, stickers, and throwies everywhere. So condensed and populated, it makes you move fast to avoid the mad undercover cops or the ones walking the streets. No time for piecing but even the pieces were timeless with funky connections and colors. Lots of bomb pizza and bodegas. Bomb ass beer, but the herb was no bueno. Could smoke like a chimney and barely catch a high. Plenty of great records, though. I kept thinking to myself “I wonder if Black Moon or Smif-n-Wessun went to this deli regularly? I wonder if Big L, Biggie, or Nas took this train? I wonder how many graffiti pioneers looked at the same wall and thought the same thing: ‘that wall would be fresh.’” At times it felt like I was in the game Getting Up, other times it felt like True Crime: New York City or in the movie Get Rich or Die Tryin’.
