Off-Season Lifeguard Spotlight: Griffin Henze

During the off-season, Griffin is focused on applying to medical schools while working in a neuroscience research laboratory at Yale University. He also plans to work as an EMT in New Haven. His work in research is driven by a passion for neuroscience and development, with the goal of better understanding how to prevent and treat diseases such as Autism and Alzheimer’s.

Lifeguarding has been a major inspiration for Griffin’s path. It sparked his interest in patient care, strengthened his desire to give back to the community, and gave him a love for fast-paced environments. Lifeguarding experiences continue to influence his approach to helping others in meaningful ways.

Looking ahead, Griffin’s goals include getting into a strong medical school and ultimately becoming a neurosurgeon, orthopedic surgeon, or emergency medicine physician.
