A few images from the latest Forum Studio Session (@ircamforum) at @ircam_paris, for the Modular Dream project.

This performance was presented as part of the CNM x Ircam Inside residencies.
At the center, a body lying among the audience, connected to an EEG headset, which captures brain activity in real time. These signals are translated into musical parameters and used to shape a generative sound system connected to a modular synthesizer.
As the body drifts toward sleep, the sound slowly transforms, creating an intimate, immersive experience between wakefulness and dreaming.

This project was made possible thanks to the beautiful work of the whole team:

✨ What a magical session we had last night at Forum Studio Session #6 with @anee.molly and @bart__bell, as part of the CNM x Ircam Inside residencies !

The artists presented Modular Dream, a transdisciplinary performance that explores the relationships between brain activity, sleep, and sound creation.

Lying down among the audience, a participant wore an EEG headset that captured brain activity in real time. These signals were translated into musical parameters and drove a generative system connected to a modular synthesizer. As the body drifted toward sleep, the sound transformed.

After the performance, the teams presented the tools they used: Max for Live, IRCAM’s spatialization technologies (Spat), and SKataRT for sound design, developed from the research of the Interaction Sound Music Movement team.

Et si le sommeil devenait un instrument ? ✨

What if sleep became an instrument? ✨

For our next Forum Studio Session, we invite you to an immersive sensory experience at Ircam with “Modular Dream,” a project by Anee Molly and Bart Bell. This transdisciplinary performance, which explores the relationships between brain activity, sleep, and sound creation, uses tools dedicated to brain data processing in Ableton Live, as well as Ircam’s spatialization technologies (Spat) to deploy sound throughout the space. The sound design also draws on SKataRT, developed from research by the Interaction Sound Music Movement team.

Solo Hotel I

Conceived and produced with @cons.kyr , Solo Hotel is an in situ sculpture created for Aperto, the project space of the Fondation d'Entreprise Pernod Ricard, designed to host artist residencies, exhibitions, public gatherings, and workshops. Solo Hotel serves utilitarian functions that respond to the fundamental needs of its users.
A series of three events was programmed, inviting artists and theorists to leave and inscribe their marks, permanently and visibly. A unit within another unit, the piece negotiates its function - between an institution and an exhibition space - embedding itself within and existing inside another structure.
As it evolves through various invitations, SOLO HOTEL takes on hybrid forms, expanding through the addition of new structures and the telephone broadcast of sound-based works.
A small publication, designed by @emilieferrat (@espaceness ) in the format of a door hanger, will accompany each intervention.
The first one (*) presents Alpha Amylase, a work by schv in dialogue with a text by @marouanebkt - to be read here and online, and listened to through the SOLO HOTEL telephone.
