#10 Underworld Issue by Current Obsession. Welcome to the descent.

Departing from our earlier investigations of surface, signature and sign, the issue moves deliberately downward – beneath surfaces and systems of classification, to explore the hidden orders that shape bodies, materials and ways of knowing.

It approaches adornment, skin and ornament as active interfaces, where invisible forces register materially.

Bodies here are permeable rather than autonomous, training themselves into legibility through labour, ritual, discipline, repetition and exposure.

#10 Underworld Issue attends to cosmologies and knowledge systems that persist in the shadows through concealment, resilience, and survival, as well as to the infrastructures of extraction, circulation and decay that bind bodies to geology, technology, and death.

The descend happens gradually through activations and four individual chapters. Across theory, fiction, interviews and visual material, the issue gathers these subterranean threads into a single publication that will be released at the end of the year.

Subscribe to Current Obsession to be among the first readers to receive the issue. Comment ‘underworld’ and we will send you a subscription link or check the link in our bio.

This isn’t a snapshot.
It’s proof.

Friendship over years doesn’t mean you see each other all the time. It means you recognize each other instantly when you do. Same jokes, a few more wrinkles, very different paths in between. Music, chaos, life. All of it happened.

One is missing at the table. Physically. Julius is in Lillehammer, Norway now. Sounds far away. Geographically, sure. But not in the way that matters. Some people aren’t present and are still there. The good ones stay in the system.

What I love about this: no one here has to perform. No status, no pitch, no “look what I’m doing now.” You sit, you drink, you laugh, you shut up for a moment. And you know you’ve got each other if it counts.

Long friendships aren’t a feed.
They’re an archive.
And a damn good one.

A new set of stills from a rather intense scene from our current scifi feature film project. After finishing principal photography in late 2024 we are now knee deep in post production.

Stay tuned and follow @evolution_of_machine for more updates on our scifi emerging universe!

A text that breaks beyond the format of the page and a typeface that overflows its own boundaries. Written words become a typographic image. They are read. They react. They transform through the spoken word. Sounds merge with letters, and typography is no longer just a medium but a part of the artwork.

Together with poet @famosa.volpeazzurra, we developed the typographic performance “Bugs And Arrows”, based on his “Treppenläufer” poem. For the an|grenzen poetry festival, the @stiftungniedersachsen invited us to experiment with the boundaries of language and text. Bugs And Arrows was first performed one year ago at the @litzentrumgoe, accompanied by a simultaneous sign language interpretation by @llevita.

We’re super happy that Giorgio will perform the piece once more on June 2nd at the Lyrik Tage in Frankfurt (@litffm). Don’t miss it if you’re around!

Ragequit by @bennzorn2.0

"From today, RAGEQUIT.V01 💢🚪 is available via @futurefonts ! Ragequit is a mildly hysteric expansion contrast typeface that balances the elegant with the obscure. Its razor-sharp features, pointy ends and cramped metrics make it a slightly bizarre but vaguely elegant statement. It is like doing push-ups in a tuxedo!"
