⚡ RANGE TESTING THE DTTZH F6S ⚡

I took my @dttzhebike F6S, “Daredevil 😈,” on a real-world test to compare its range, speed, charging and value with my RadBurro cargo trikes.

GPS recorded 29.84 miles and about 1,400 feet of climbing. Around 0.3 mile involved walking, leaving roughly 29.5 miles ridden, mostly in pedal-assist level 5.

The fastest sections were downhill. GPS recorded 31–33mph, including 31mph for one minute on a 4% descent. On flatter ground, it sustained about 28.5mph. The F6S is advertised as reaching 40mph, but its speedometer and odometer don’t match GPS.

I didn’t pedal much. The F6S is a heavy, moped-style bike that isn’t designed for comfortable or efficient pedaling. I also had to partially sit on my bag because mounting a rear basket requires another $100 in hardware.

The F6S currently costs around $859. That’s affordable for a bike claiming a 2,000W peak motor and 48V 25Ah battery, but I still expect accurate electronics and better utility without buying additional parts.

I started fully charged and rode until the display showed 42.8V. After stopping, my @grin_tech Cycle Satiator measured 43.8V. A one-hour charge at 4A returned 3.77Ah—about 15% of the advertised capacity. The station supplied 0.198kWh and charged me $0.14. Although the battery allows 5A, I selected 4A for safety.

My RadBurro has a 48V 52.5Ah battery and normally travels 40–50 miles. Its onboard charger draws around 700W at 120V and can exceed 1kW on an appropriate higher-voltage supply. It recovers much more range during a one-hour stop than the 350W Satiator.

I’m testing how much useful range each vehicle can recover during an hour so I know whether I can get home or reach another charger.

We’re also rebuilding “Dark Knight 2.0 🦇,” my upright Sun Traditional adult trike, with a Grin All-Axle V3 front motor and Cycle Analyst V3. It will provide trustworthy speed, distance, Ah and Wh measurements and help determine whether Daredevil’s battery delivers 25Ah or closer to the approximately 20Ah suggested by early results.

I would like @dttzhebike to correct or replace its inaccurate components as should be with the warranty.

We swapped in “Boxer 🥊” today while “Sheila 🚚” is up for an inspection, and we’re also starting to trial the ability to tow and transport e-bikes using our @radpowerbikes RadBurros!

“Dark Knight 🦇” is our @grin_tech-converted @sunbicycles Sun Traditional Trike. Since moving into the apartment, it’s needed some attention—especially the brakes and a general overhaul after spending quite a bit of time sitting while the RadBurros became our primary workhorses.

Being able to use “Boxer 🥊” as an e-bike hauler is going to be a huge help. Instead of needing a car, van, or truck to move another bike or trike around, we can use one piece of micromobility to transport another.

“Boxer 🥊” hasn’t exactly been sitting idle, either! @alnwright has also been putting it to work transporting materials around Boston. We’re hoping to get some pictures of it hard at work carrying materials to @franklinparkbos to help feed the animals at the zoo, as well as hauling supplies for projects like filling potholes around the city.

We’re also hoping to do more modifications and repairs to both RadBurros with @tigs_digs soon. Until then, we’re working with what we’ve got and figuring out new ways to make these machines even more useful.

What modifications would you make to a RadBurro to turn it into an even better work vehicle or e-bike hauler? Let us know!

That’s one of the things I love about practical micromobility. It isn’t just about getting yourself from Point A to Point B. With the right equipment, you can haul cargo, move other bikes, support community projects, and connect with people along the way.

Sometimes an e-bike really can replace a truck. 🚲⚡🚚

Mr. Dummy is Complete!! ⚡🚲

So happy to have been able to build such a great and straightforward conversion with a lot of power under the hood, thanks to @grin_tech's new Rear All-Axle Hub Motor!

This was our first time installing the new Rear All-Axle, and one of the biggest improvements was not having to scratch our heads trying to figure out a pedal sensor installation. The built-in PAS/torque sensing system made the install much cleaner, faster, and reduced the risk of issues that came with older setups.

Having worked with Grin products since 2021, I've seen the evolution firsthand. My original All-Axle V1 had its challenges, but after being rebuilt into a V2, it became a much stronger system. This new Rear All-Axle takes those lessons learned and makes an already great platform even better.

Mr. Dummy is now ready to help @et_is_my_copilot commute, carry his kids, and make everyday trips easier. This is exactly what electric cargo bikes should be about — giving people a practical alternative to a car. ⚡

I’m still enjoying "Sheila 🚚" and the ability to connect with communities like @neprwa, where they’re always looking for volunteers to help repaint murals and keep these spaces welcoming for everyone.

Riding trails with a unique bike like "Sheila 🚚" is a great way to slow things down, start conversations, and create positive community engagement. The size and design of cargo bikes naturally get people curious and encourage everyone to be more aware of others around them. Being a cargo pedicab, these conversations help show what e-bikes can be.

If you see me and need help with your bike, pull up and say, "Hey, what's up Doc?" 🐰🔧

Remember: trails are shared spaces. Be safe, wear a helmet, use lights when needed, slow down around dogs and other trail users, and always give a friendly "on your left" when passing.

🎥 Check out our new video on YouTube to see the full result of the build and test ride with Mr. Dummy in action!

New Build Day!! ⚡🔧

Man, it's been a while since I got a commission to do a @grin_tech install, but I'm so excited about this one! So far, it's been one of the most straightforward builds we've done.

@et_is_my_copilot contacted us because he wanted to make his Surly Big Dummy more practical for commuting and taking his kids to school and out on rides. I think the Grin Rear All-Axle Hub Kit is the perfect choice. It features a built-in PAS/torque sensor, so there's no need to spend extra time installing a separate sensor, which really speeds up the installation process.

Around the shop, we've already given this build a nickname: "Mr. Dummy." 😄

We're nearly finished! The next steps are installing the motor and programming the system. Unlike many pre-built e-bikes or lower-cost conversion kits, Grin gives you the ability to program the bike exactly the way you want it to ride. Best of all, their systems are backed by a 3-year warranty.

I've been using Grin products since 2021, and they've been an absolute game changer when it comes to building reliable, road-legal electric bikes. I can't wait to get Mr. Dummy back on the road!

Been taking a lot more time lately to go on road trips with my best friend @alienprincewarrior using both “Boxer 🥊” and his @radpowerbikes RadCity 4 “Shadow Rider 🖤.” This time we ventured down to @hornstrafarms, aka “Peaceful Meadows,” to grab some ice cream and pet some cute cows 🐄🍦—a place that was a big part of my childhood, and something I’m really happy to see still thriving today.

We also attempted charging @alienprincewarrior’s RadCity 4 using our @grin_tech Satiator charger. Charging to nearly 80% only cost around $0.10 on a $0.35/kWh FLO charger on the @chargepoint network, which in my opinion is incredibly cheap compared to gas-powered vehicles. ⚡🚲

Learning EV charging infrastructure is still very new to me, and I’m finding that some stations are cheaper than others — kind of like gas stations. For example, we did a full charge on the RadBurro at another station and, before connection and idle fees, the actual electricity cost for a full charge was under $1. Even though the total session ended up over $5 due to fees, the actual charging cost was only about $0.89 at $0.35/kWh, which is honestly pretty impressive for something that can get a real usable range.

Trips like these have been helping me better understand real-world charging costs, infrastructure, and what it’s actually like using EV charging for larger e-bike battery systems. Plus, any excuse for ice cream, cows, and a road trip is always a win. 🖤🥊⚡🐄🍦
