With September ending, it’s time to put out my monthly playlist! These are my top 30 tracks that I found in September that were released anytime in 2026. Artists can only repeat as features or in collaboration with another artist, otherwise it’s one artist and no repeats from previous months. This month I had to cut things down from about 50 down to the 30 and it wasn’t easy!

Link to the playlist will be in my bio for the next month!

As usual now, I also have a section and selection of songs that are not currently in DSPs, be sure to support directly when possible!

Recently Inspectah Deck dropped his album Dragon’s Breath which I’ve heard good things about and am hoping to get to eventually. But I had seen that Gripz, an artist I’ve been listening to since I started publishing reviews was featured! Then I heard that for some reason his verse on this song Cold Case was only on the edited version of the album, which was confusing to me. So I figured I’d check out the full version and talk about it since normally I wouldn’t hear it since I don’t listen to edited music, and most others probably don’t either.
.
I’ll start by saying this, Cold Case is a great song. No surprise as Inspectah Deck, Ransom and Gripz are all dope MCs. They make for a surprising trio, but one I was excited to hear together when I saw the tracklisting. The beat here is thumping and drives the track with a hint of elegance within it all. All three of these artists know about spitting dark, gritty bars and Cold Case leans into that. No talking to cops, no evidence, no trace type of lyrics. All of which is done with a high level of rapping as expected.
.
Like I said, this edited version of the song ends with a verse from Gripz, not just him on the hook. It’s much better than the unedited version, which I have gone and listened to as well. The version most people will hear ends with a narration that is much more boring than a third dope verse. There’s also nothing even edited on Gripz verse so I don’t see why it was cut but then left on the explicit version.
.
I get things happen but I can’t help but feel confused on this track and the different versions. In my opinion one is clearly better and it’s not the version most people will hear. It’s a shame because Inspectah Deck, Ransom and Gripz made for a great combination. But I highly recommend anyone that enjoys aggressive raps or the Inspectah Deck album to go check out this other version of Cold Case!

I’ve been following the great producer FiveEight Fever for a while now, he even made my 2025 Rising Star Producers! So when I see he drops I try to make sure I check in. This time the album is Grhyme with the MC Chubs. coming out of Long Island with razor sharp lines and a unique flow, Grhyme is a top tier underground gem!
.
I won’t lie, it did take me a little time to fully lock into Chubs flow and rhyme style. it’s a great style but like some of my favorites took me just a bit of time for everything to click into place. But by the time I was finished with my first play through I saw the vision. First of all, FiveEight Fever brought some great, gritty production here for Chubs to dig into. and it was dope to see some great features like Gripz, Bub Styles & Brad Piff scattered across the album.
.
Chubs brings witty bars and grimy lyrics. Lines like “Where we from you either turn scum or an athlete, or a fiend on the backstreet” and “Slice you back like bacon fat, stop glorifying rats” are all over Grhyme and fit perfect with the beats from FiveEight Fever. This album stays in the mud and I really love that, songs like words Are Weapons, D.R.U.G.S., get Iff My Cross Trainers, Burl Talk and Camp Kill really get into a vibe I like. But on tracks like Soul Deepens you get more of a personal insight to Chubs which is dope too.
.
FiveEight Fever continues to link and work with dope artists and I’ll continue to tune in. Chubs caught me as a new fan off this, and I can see he has a long career I have to study up on. Check this album out today and show these guys some love!

Gripz’ The Offering Plate displays his wicked bars and similarly wicked voice once again. He stays with the aggression bar after bar and I fuck with it.
.
Gripz Battle Rap background stays on display and I’m not sure I’ve heard someone get into as much crazy gun talk on an album as Gripz does on offering plate, but I really enjoy it. With his quick flow and unique voice, things come together nicely to make some really interesting verses and songs. Not an MC you will fall asleep listening to by any means.
.
At 30 minutes, everytime I put this on it flys by. The dark production ushers each song along, filled with villainous content. Some of my favorite tracks are ReLoad, Forever Cooking, 76 Tombstones, Drama & Desperate Measures.
.
Gripz continues to move up, recently he had a feature on a Hus KingPin project and the more he churns out like this and Crucifix Cartridges the more he’ll keep establishing himself in that the dark east coast Hip-Hop scene.
