Back Lip from Group Effort: Heart Over Mind

Scariest strap in spot I’ve ever been on. 30 foot drop off the back, board length roll in. Thanks for the pull @satt.mutton

Here’s a little backstory: I hit this spot for the first time when I was 19-20 year old (2012?), during a short stint in CO, but didn’t land a trick. I dreamed of this spot for the following years, and got to see a lot of really cool stuff filmed there, especially by the Nightmare crew.
After taking a hiatus from boarding for 3 years, I found myself living in Colorado Springs, and this ledge kept calling my name. As I got back into boarding again, I found myself driving the long way to Summit County, checking the snow depth and patiently waiting for the time to revisit.
Eventually some friends were passing through, and I dragged them out to this ledge through about a mile of deep snow (post holeing the whole way) I was about 26 at the time. The ledge was fully covered in snow and we tried but didn’t get much.
Fast forward to April of 2024, and now I’m 34, and I know I’m moving to Minnesota after the winter, my time in CO was done.
I had just spent most of the season riding and filming with the @group_3ffort crew, and I had a bucket list spot I needed to check off. We hiked to this ledge and it was completely buried in snow…again. Mac, Mitch, Sully and I dug it out, and hit it for a few hours but ultimately ran out of light or camera battery (probably both) Fuck.
Luckily the boys were down to go again a few weekends later and we didn’t have to unbury the spot, it was still good to go. (Side note, this reservoir ledge is above 10,000 ft elevation so it’s extremely exhausting to hike for hours)
Loooong story short, I’ve thrown a fuckload of tricks at this ledge, come close to a lot of cool and crazy shit. Really grateful and ecstatic I finally walked away with a trick I’m truly stoked on. (Mac’s filming is unreal, his camera movements make me literally feel an indescribable emotion) anyways don’t fucking give up, chase that high, stim the fuck out with your boarder friends….yeah do it for the love.
Now if only I could go back and land that back 180 and cab 270 I’ve been trying all these years…🫠🪐💫
