Some conversations deserve to be heard again. My album Dialogue is out next week.
Bringing together the worlds of Bach, Schubert, Debussy and Schumann, it explores a musical conversation between composers, between past and present, and between music and ourselves.

A new chapter begins.

Now with a renewed identity and a new home at Heroic, my independent label, a new chapter begins.

I’m very excited to be embarking on new recording projects - a period of intense practice, musical discovery and preparation, concerts, with some wonderful journeys ahead.

For now, a little glimpse behind the scenes…

“The ultimate rarity is a moment of profound, intentional pause.”

That line from my recent feature in @travelandsociety by @ardasayiner stayed with me.

Music has always been about creating those moments, where time slows, we listen more deeply, and reconnect with something beyond ourselves.

At JAM, it’s the people who make every concert truly special. Our audience members, volunteers, performers and composers come together through a shared passion for discovering and celebrating new music. It’s your enthusiasm, curiosity and support that make everything we do possible.

“I am a first year composer at the Royal Academy of Music and I love seeing as much live new music as I can an JAM is one of the best places to really see new music.” - Sasha (Audience Member/Volunteer)

“I was really excited to watch Onyx Brass at the Music of Our Time concert, they are the pinnacle of brass ensemble playing in England and as a brass player myself I am looking forward to hearing them perform new commissions.” - Sinead (Audience Member/Volunteer)

Thank you to everyone who joins us in championing new music. Whether you’re attending your first concert, volunteering behind the scenes, or returning year after year, you’re an essential part of the JAM family. We can’t wait to welcome you to JAM on the Marsh this year and for you to become part of our JAM community!

Over the past 8 weeks right up to the lead of our festival we have been highlighting the music and talent of tomorrow via our ‘Music of Our Time’ series. As we close this series, we turn to our own Artistic Director, John Frederick Hudson who shares his insights about our ‘Music of Our Time’ concert in London earlier this year.

“Music of Our Time is really exciting because it brings under one roof composers, audience members and performers with new music. It’s the real heart of new music in London.” - John Frederick Hudson (Artistic Director of JAM on the Marsh)

From the creative process, exclusive behind the scenes interviews, our ‘Music of Our Time’ composers to our JAM community, these reels brought together the voices that make JAM what it is: a space where new music is nurtured, encouraged, shared and celebrated. Hear their stories and step inside the heart of JAM.

Aditya Sharma’s “hope is the thing with feathers”, inspired by the poetry of Emily Dickinson, explores the intimate relationship between the spiritual force that resides within us and the natural essence that gives it life. Written as a reflection on resilience in uncertain times, the work reminds us of our shared humanity and the strength we find through music and community.

“The work explores the intimate relationship between the powerful, yet gentle voice of hope (as sung by the solo soprano) and the individual that it dutifully serves. It is always present, yet only reveals itself when it matters most. This primordial, nurturing bond forms the work’s compositional basis.” - Sharma

Here’s an excerpt of Sharma’s piece “hope is the thing with feathers” as heard in @stbrideschurch, Fleet Street, London conducted by @sarahelizabetharwen and performed by the sublime voices of @selwyncollegechapel.

Mozart already knew how much space he needed before he began writing the Piano Concerto in C minor.

This short video from my visit to the @RCMLondon explores the manuscript itself — the clarity, structure, and remarkable sense of intention already visible on the page centuries later.
