POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Thank you to the constellation of bodies that listened and brought this work to life. 🤍

To @_t33g33, @dangadang.radio (Gladys, Erick, Cheska), @grumpy.kitty.boy, and @et.massmovement, for listening bravely and giving voice to histories and struggles we’re taught to turn away from.

To @baby___ikea, @bowtiefrenchfries, @yumupuru, and @deiyahyah , for softening the room and reminding us that listening can be an act of tenderness.

To @fourlimbs.sixhands, @_mudskipper, and Dwight, for asking us to surrender. To stay with the unresolved and overwhelming, and let feeling come before understanding.

To @thatsokayking, for giving our forest its pulse. To Addie and Frankie, for giving it memory.

To @grantfrondozo and Rhythm Sound & Light, for making the forest breathe and giving sound another depth through light.

To @pkshellboy and @siningshelter, for letting every whisper, prayer, protest, and eruption be heard.

To @deiyahyah, for giving Slow Room a visual language that could live beyond the room.

To @hugasbigas_, for keeping us warm with drinks made with love. To @luannepavia, @neilalfwed, and @jujitopia, for holding the fort with so much care. To Justin, Raymart, Vincent, DJ, and Russell, for building our strange little forest by hand.

To @n.mphea, for witnessing so tenderly and preserving what was always going to be fleeting.

To @racecar72_ and @manilacommunityradio, for giving these sounds somewhere to remain.

And to @martinaamarquez , Pat, and @iloveayalamallscircuit, for trusting something unfamiliar enough to let it become. For giving us the space to be brave, strange, tender, loud, and alive. 🌳

This work carries traces of all of you. Thank you for listening with us. ❤️‍🔥

Love,
Kim and Coi

Some gnarly clips from my performance of @grumpy.kitty.boy piece “O forse, l’ho già perduta poco a poco…” (2018) from a recital last month in Ottawa at @doms_southminster

Had SUCH a good time reconnecting with my friends in Ottawa and it was so nice to perform there again. Juro’s wonderful piece has quickly become a favourite of mine to perform, who make the trek down from Toronto too!

Check out the video on my YouTube link in my bio! ❤️❤️❤️

Calling all sound artists, musicians, composers, and also environmental scientists and climate justice advocates!

Co-presented by KaKompo, UP Conemus, and MusiKolektibo, we are proud to host this event, “Dialogue, Nature, & Games”, featuring Colombian composer and multi-instrumentalist, Harry González, who will visit Manila this week! It will happen this Saturday, June 13, in two parts: (1) a masterclass at Cocoscape PH @cocoscapeph , 1:30-3:30 PM, and (2) Artist talk/Listening Session at Library Una, 6:00-9:00 PM.

This event is designed for student composers, sound artists, and musicians. It pairs an intimate look at contemporary composition practices, specifically exploring animal sound notation, dialogue about music and nature, and interactive musical structures.

All events are free and open to the public, with a Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) option for the upcoming talk. Spread the word! Everyone is invited, especially student composers, artists, and climate advocates.

Liham

This project took 5 years in the making, and I'm happy to be part of it over the past 2 years. This is a song cycle commissioned by Renee Fajardo (@that.reneefajardo), with music by Juro Kim Feliz (@grumpy.kitty.boy) and poetry by Riley Palanca (@rileypalanca), weaving 4 Filipino stories together into one art work. I resonated a lot with the stories as an East Asian living in diaspora, as I sometimes still struggle with finding my identity in Canada. It is a beautiful piece but it also took the whole team lots of hard work to bring it alive.

The song cycle was performed by Danlie Rae Acebuque (@danzrae), Renee, and I, then filmed and produced by a team of amazing people. The project will be released online as music videos. I'm very excited to see the final product and I hope that you can take a look once it's released!

The project will go live on lihamproject.com on June 12.
