AMDA has failed their alumni, students, and community (😑) when it comes to transparency, accountability, ethical reporting practices, and firing/ expelling/ counseling- abusive students and teachers. WE’RE DONE. We refuse to sit back and watch decades worth of trauma at the hands of AMDA continue unresolved.
We’ve partnered with Peace Over Violence, the LGBT Center, UCLA Rape Treatment Center, Valor (formerly known as CalCasa), and multiple Advocates across the nation including @ocu_care to begin the implementation of this Advocacy Program.
We will fight for transparency and safety for current students and alumni to receive the healing they deserve.

We’ve been busy meeting with organizations, gathering resources, and building a strategic cohesive plan for the coming semesters. We will hopefully start piloting the AMDA Alumni Advocacy Program at our LA campus, shortly followed by the NY campus. More info soon✨

Here we GOOOO!!!
Tomorrow’s the day and so far we’ve seen:

-AMDA HAS TAKEN ACCOUNTABILITY & APOLOGIZED
- they’ve begun mandatory retraining
- implementation of the “task force” (WHO ONLY MEETS 3x a semester for 2hrs 🥴)
- the anonymous survey
- They’re ONLY investigating reports after January 2021

WHAT THEY HAVEN’T YET DONE IS-

- AMDA hasn’t fired predatory staff or faculty even though they have the physical list
- They’re asking victims who reported prior to Jan 2021 to RE-REPORT THEIR ASSAULT😡
- No tangible physical/ mental support for survivors as of yet
- They have not yet partnered with coalitions designed to keep students safe
- Advocates have not yet been stationed in school
- WHY IS THE NAVEX SYSTEM A GROUP CONSISTING OF ONLY WHITE PEOPLE? (We thought AMDA was going for more diversity???)
- Why is the school STILL employing reported abusers???

Let’s allow this march to be a celebration for the things we HAVE seen change in, but also allow the Protest for the things we’ve yet to see change.
You’re doing amazing work.
We’re with you.

It’s nice that the institution has realized the ferocity and demands of its students and alumni, so now it’s TIME TO CHANGE. @amdaofficial , you’re aware of our grievances and frustrations. YOU have the power to change this rally from a protest to a celebration. WHATEVER YOU DO NOW WILL DECIDE OUR RESPONSE.

Los Angeles students & alumni, I know you’re afraid. But the school cannot legally retaliate against you for honoring your freedom of speech.
We know the school didn’t keep you safe and we know you experienced severe trauma at the hands of an institution who was supposed to keep you safe. Walking back into an unsafe environment is terrifying and I am proud of you, regardless of your decision. We stand by you no matter what.

For those who can join us in raising our voices, we invite, amplify, and stand by you. If you are able to join, join and know we are marching for all those who could not speak. All those 18 and + year olds who were mistreated, taken advantage of, and gaslit into thinking their trauma wasn’t worthy of a thorough investigation.

You deserve justice, no matter how long it’s been.
