Feeling so incredibly happy after the first edition of our "Build Your Own Noise Box Workshop!" at @papercranelab <3

12 noise boxes built over 3 hours! we started by learning where noise boxes come from (Hugh Davies' Sho-Zyg boxes from 1968) and learnt how piezo discs pick up sounds, then we learnt what impedance is and why we need an amplifier to be able to hear all the frequencies that the discs pickup.

Once we had all the theory down, we started with planning out where we wanted our attachments and accessories to go and we drilled the holes for the springs and saw blade attachments!

Everyone got to try out their noise boxes, the setup included plugging into my 10 input mixer with the Hologram Microcosm adding reverb and delay effects!

My favourite clip is of everyone just working with their hands with Miles Davis playing in the background.

Hoping to do more of these workshops later and in different cities, if you'd like to help host these please send me a message!

At the New Delhi Maiden show, we have exhibits from poets, illustrators, campaigners, designers, composers, voice artists, painters and story tellers. Together, through their art on and about childbirth narratives, they make this an immersive experience. 🌀

I am proud to share that I will launch The Belly Button Initiative- an immersive exhibition into the world of childbirth, in collaboration with C3 and WRAI.

I have envisioned it as a travelling exhibition, that will be on display in New Delhi on May 8th, to celebrate the International Day of the Midwife. The exhibits are based on my arts-based research and artistic interpretations of my colleagues in the form of illustrations and contrapuntal compositions. The exhibits will enable people to have an immersive experience through audio, visual, conversations, installation and reflection. I am hoping to take this exhibition to different spaces, venues, universities, cities and countries to spread awareness about obstetric violence and the potential for person-centred respectful maternity care.

A midwives’ vision is coming alive this International Day of the Midwife. I hope you will be there to support and bear witness.
