POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yesterday, it was my golden birthday, and I finally turned 23!! 🤘

It’s weird looking back on my life, (or mostly the past five years,) and seeing how much my life has changed over and over again. I’ve acted in so many cool short films with hopefully many more to come, animated a bundle of small cartoons, and even graduated from University with my BFA in animation!

But with the good, there have been so many times where I’ve been in a rut I had no idea how to get myself out of, or a depressive lonely state that I just had to live through, hoping that something good would be on the other side.

In 2022, I started having severe panic attacks. I would wake up, pale, covered in sweat, heart beating like a rabbit and unable to calm myself down. This happened so randomly and without warning, to the point where I finally decided I needed professional help.

I’m not a person who can actively look past the shit I’m going through and see that it’s not going to be forever, without the help of outside forces. Especially during college, there were so many times where I felt anxious and lonely and that I didn’t have anyone to turn to. But, pushing through those times has given me so much to be grateful for.

I’ve had some amazing people around me that have changed my life, (tagged here) including my wife @vitaindigo who has made me the happiest I’ve ever been. I’ve collaborated with some incredible artists both as a performer and creator, and even finally started creating my indie animated pilot @heroesforhirecartoon which should be hopefully coming out the end of this year or beginning of next.

The only thing I’ve ever wanted is my life to be full of love and art, and recently after so long of wanting, I feel as though it’s starting to become just that.

I guess my main point after all of this rambling is you never know what life will give you if you just keeping pushing forward. The bad times will always come, there’s no denying that, but for anyone that, just like me, is unable to see past the shittiness, I’m here to tell you that it’s all going to be okay.

Believe in yourself, there’s no giving up, the power’s inside, yeah, that’s wassup.

So long, Space Cowboy… 🚀

Family Release, 2025
Mixed media on panel, polyptych of nine panels
112 x 432 x 18 inches
(284.5 x 1097.3 x 45.7 cm)

On this day in 2001, I went through one of the hardest losses of my life when I lost my little cousin Derion in a car accident. That day also became the moment I discovered the power of what art can do — drawing him helped me heal through that pain. It gave me space to cry when I thought about him being gone, to laugh remembering him beating me so bad at Mario Kart on Nintendo 64 at only 6 years old, and to sit with the frustration of wishing I could have stopped them from getting in that car. It made me appreciate the times we had — good, bad, and everything in between. Love you forever, DP. ❤️

I made this piece to celebrate Derion. It’s based on a photo taken by @erindesmond during a balloon release my family and I did in 2020 to honor 19 years since his passing, and also inspired by the balloon release room I created at the @kranzbergarts in 2022.

So many hands went into creating this one — big love to the whole studio team: Ma @msneenee03, Gabriel @gabriel_gyat_wimmer, Yashawa @alkemyfood999, Nu @pazzhaddaa, Lee Kratzer @leekratzer, Eric Shultis @ericshultis, Liv @callmeliv, Quinn @qbricenoart, Paint by Josh @paintbyjosh, Taylor Deed @taylorthemirror, Brian Kirkwood @bryanjosephkirkwood @artmovementla.

Now on view at Anton Kern Gallery @antonkerngallery win NYC through August 15 as part of my solo exhibition RELEASE

RELEASE, 2025
Car bumpers, seatbelts, screws, afro wigs, mirror, foam, acrylic, oil, vinyl, paper, string, and sculpting epoxy on wood support
80 x 70 x 28 in (203.2 x 177.8 x 71.1 cm)

This piece started as a drawing I made in Brussels earlier this year while making music with my brother Peter @peter_emmanuilov. I had taken a season off from the studio and was struggling to translate what I was feeling in the music the way I truly felt it inside. That drawing became a way to manifest the kind of emotional release I hadn’t yet reached in sound. I didn’t expect it to grow into this piece, but here it is: RELEASE.

Now on view at Anton Kern Gallery @antonkerngallery in NYC through August 15 as part of my solo exhibition RELEASE.

Big shoutout to Gabriel @gabriel_gyat_wimmer for carving the mouth and to the whole studio team who helped bring this to life:

Through the Percent for Art program, Louisiana State Parks has acquired several works of art, mainly by Louisiana artists, over the last few years. These works have enhanced the spaces in which they are and have added to the visitor experience. You can view these fantastic works of art at Bogue Chitto State Park, Palmetto Island State Park, Fontainebleau State Park, and Black Bear Golf Club.

It’s been a long strange trip to get here but my new sculpture, Bird’s Eye View, arrived at it’s final destination at Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville, Louisiana. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the creative team that made this possible. Fellow artist and fabricator every step of the way, @grwimmer, sculptor @brentbarnidge, and of course, the the legend himself, John Adduci @adduci_sculpture. Thank you so much to @lapercentforart and @fontainebleaustatepark for making this project a reality. Many thanks @heaveho.crane for help with the install. I must be the luckiest woman alive.
