A little hike to get the blood flowing on this snowy, frigid morning in the Arctic!!

So crazy to think Marte and I met 24 years ago at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia as both of us were studying abroad. We clicked IMMEDIATELY!! She is Norwegian, I am American, from New York. This is the first time we’ve seen each other in 20 years. 💕 And yesterday, we drove snowmobiles 136 miles across Svalbard in search of polar bears here in the North Pole!!! I love that our friendship has lasted the test of time!!

We saw a polar bear up in the mountains today and found his tracks. Nothing like seeing a paw print 3x the size of your head out in the wild. Nothing prepares you for that feeling. They are ENORMOUS. You’ve seriously never felt so small in your entire life.

Absolutely unbelievable day. To see the untouched wilderness of the arctic is inexplicable. I felt like I was somehow transported into a National Geographic documentary on the North Pole. 10hrs on a snow mobile to head to the east coast glaciers of Svalbard. Better than I ever could have possibly imagined with a hefty dose of adrenaline in the mix!! I mean, I was driving a snowmobile almost 80km an hour on the arctic tundra IN THE DARK. 😳 No doubt I had some “holy sh*t!!” moments. I’ll never forget this adventure for as long as I live. Simply BEYOND. ✨❄️
