We have been told a lot of things from medical professionals this week. "your daughter has Type 1 Diabetes" "your lives will look a whole lot different." but my favorite thing was said Monday night at Childrens Hospital when the phlebotomist (not knowing her middle name) cheered after millie's 3rd blood draw of the day "Millie Who's Braver Than You?! Who is Braver Than You?!" There have been so many beautiful bright spots in our heavy week-our community being the biggest! They have wrapped us in their arms and supported us in every way possible and we are overcome with gratitude. we know the days ahead will be full of adjustment and hard moments but we also know our God walks before us and Our Millie Brave has the support to walk this new life and become exactly who shes supposed to be☀️

And just like that, my time racing as a mustang is over. I am so happy I gave running a shot in college and found my love for this sport again. There have been so many memories made and life lessons I have learned throughout this sport. I am forever grateful for all the people in my life who have helped me get to where I am today. I am so happy I got to finish my career at another national meet in my favorite event. Forever thankful to be a mustang🤍🐴

officially graduated!! so thankful for all the people i have met and the memories i have made during my time at morningside. i wouldn’t be where i am today without my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for their continuous support and encouragement throughout this journey. it definitely hasn’t been easy but it was definitely worth it 🤍

Up next: one last track nationals, NCLEX, then saving tiny humans🩷🩵🍼

Our 15th @chishuffle as a team🔥 Windy conditions provided a tough race, but our team showed up to fight! Last year the mixed team competition was introduced, but we wanted to see how year one went before committing. This year, we decided to stack the mixed teams to see how we would fare.🔥

Yesterday at the Dennis Young Indoor Classic 3000m, we saw the return of Garret Ehlers to racing. He took the win in 8:39 and gained a lot of confidence for the season to come!🔥

Most Inspring: Garret Ehlers

It’s easier to train when there are big races on the calendar and you have more time to train the way you know you need to in order to get results. Garret reminded us that when priorities need to shift, it’s alright to give a little here and there. A quote shared between Garret and Team Director Tyson Wieland summed up the season a bit. “Not every year has to be about shooting for the fences with big events, but it’s about just staying in the game.” In 2025, that’s what Garrett did, he kept things moving despite having to refocus on what matters most in life. What did we see from Garret? We saw him take a leap of faith and take a full time position as assistant coach for cross country and track at Morningside University. We saw him him help the Runablaze squad at the Shamrock Shuffle 8km race running a 24:17. We also saw him take the win at the Sioux Cities relays in the 3k steeplechase, a race he hadn’t done for nearly 4000 days. He cruised a 1:07:36 at the Garry Bjorklund Half-Marathon for 23rd place and charged through the field at the IMT Marathon finishing 7th place in 2:28:41. While none of these were PRs, they kept him in the game as he made some incredible moves in his personal life.

We are confident that we will see Garret making an assault on some PRs again soon, and we can’t wait to see what he does in 2026!

What an incredible experience getting to watch Boo Schexnayder be inducted into the Coaches Hall of Fame. When people call him the “Coach’s Coach,” they mean it. Boo has shaped the way I coach in countless ways—always generous with his knowledge, and never one to hold anything back. He is truely deserving of the honor.
