Congratulations to Dr. Kate Fortmueller! 🎉 We’re excited to share that she has received a grant to participate in UCSB’s Media Industries and AI Research Initiative. We also congratulate @gsuwgss Associate Professor Dr. Rosita Scerbo, co-recipient of the grant alongside Dr. Fortmueller! Their project investigates how artificial intelligence is reshaping creative labor in the video game industry, particularly for voice actors navigating issues of precarity, consent and authorship. We’re proud to see our Professor leading conversations at the intersection of media, labor and emerging technologies.

Dear God, Hey it’s me. Your hard headed daughter. I just came to say that even when I am unsure. Even when I am overwhelmed. Even when I am…fearful. I still manage to use my voice the way you intended. I could use your help with the next steps, as always. But I trust that we will get there. Cheers to my second semester lecturing for intro to Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies. It was amazing. ☺️🙌🏾💜 Attached is bts from the interactive final debate for my course. The topic was “The Boy or the Bear” in which one side had to argue that the discourse propels feminism & makes gender violence issues visible. The other side argues that the discourse creates/enforces harmful stereotypes against men. I brought in my bestie to help, we both coached a team. The debate was amazing! And I’m so proud of the young feminists that they are becoming. 🙌🏾 Check out the closing that won the debate. 🥹🥳🤌🏾

Semester one teaching intro to WGSS #womensgenderandsexualitystudies has been the highlight of my year. Thursday is our last class and I just get to sit back and watch presentations. It’s been a pleasure to see how students have retained what they learned. I feel privileged to be an educator and a student when I think about the women around the world who can’t do what I’ve done I feel privileged to be a woman that has a voice. Scrolllll to see me talk my sh🤭t.
