One gray sky and suddenly everv vendor becomes a meteorologist! The weather app has way too much power over a farmers market vendor's mood. After Saturday's stormy weather, Sunday showed up gray. The Sumthin About Spice tent still went up. That's farmers market vendor life. Outdoor markets have taught me that gloomy skies can still mean market day is on. So if you're wondering whether we'll be out there, check here first. Follow Sumthin About Spice on Instagram for our weekly market schedule and any weather-related changes. I'II always update you here when our plans change. For my fellow vendors, you know that the forecast becomes part of the job very quickly. I've learned to wait for the official market decision before changing my plans. It saves a lot of unnecessary second-guessing. Biggest thing though... when customers still show up on a gray day, WE NOTICE. Those visits mean a lot to us small businesses under those tents. Farmers markets are a huge part of how l've grown Sumthin About Spice and met the people using our seasonings. So next time the sky looks questionable, check our page before changing your plans. Customers: Does gloomy weather affect whether you head to the market? Vendors and makers: What forecast makes you start checking your phone nonstop? Tell me in the comments! . . . . . . . The job posting said “Founder.” Nobody mentioned I’d be hiring myself for every position in the company. Apparently the organizational chart is just me pointing at different versions of myself! Am I the Spiderman meme??? Welcome to small business owner life. One minute I’m thinking about where Sumthin About Spice is going next. Then I’m counting inventory. A little later, I’m packing an e-commerce order. Somehow I’ve changed departments again. Running a growing food CPG brand keeps the job description interesting. Building a clean seasoning brand also means there’s a lot happening long before you see us at a farmers market. I’ve started paying closer attention to the tasks that eat up the most time each week. Those are usually the first ones I simplify. A saved template helps, but so does a solid checklist. Every little system gives me back more time to actually grow the business. That matters when you’re still wearing most of the hats yourself. Eventually, more of those jobs will have someone else’s name on them. For now, the employee directory remains suspiciously familiar. Founder POV, basically… If you’re a small business owner or maker, I know you get it. Farmers market vendors and fellow CPG founders probably have a few unofficial job titles too. What’s the most ridiculous job currently sitting in yours? Drop it in the comments. . . . . . . . . We had an AWESOME time at the @tedxatlanta. We sampled both our Stewed Apple and Apple Pie Filling yesterday. Let’s see what that have to say about our delicious Cozy Apple Crumble that we served after lunch. #ginnysapples #tedxatlanta #sampletastings #applepie #customerproductfeedcack

Day one at TEDxAtlanta, and I had to pause and take it all in. 🥹 There’s OMA, right in the middle of a room full of bold ideas. The bottles are lined up, the perfume bar is ready, and I get to share what botanical fragrance means to me. OMA began with my search for gentler care for my son when he had eczema. Later, my own journey through fibroids, adenomyosis, and polyps made me think even more deeply about what I put on my body. Those experiences shaped the care and curiosity I bring to every fragrance. Being invited to bring OMA into this space means so much. I’m surrounded by other emerging brands, each with a founder who believed in an idea enough to keep building it. It’s energizing to be among people who are still growing, still figuring things out, and showing up with something they made. I feel grateful to be one of them. So seeing OMA here feels personal. I want people to smell the botanicals, ask questions, and notice what a scent brings up for them. A perfume can be beautiful - and it can hold a story. The theme is Bold. Brave. Unbreakable. Today, just being here feels like all three. Day two, let’s go. 🌿 Good Scents, No Nonsense. @tedxatlanta @gt.fba

Every Monday, I tell myself the same very convincing lie: "I'm taking the day off!" By noon, my small business brain has 14 new ideas. One minute I'm in shades enjoying an oyster... The next, I'm thinking: Should I apply to that market? What if we launched this? I should probably answer that supplier email. Wait. I have an idea! Did we order the new labels? And suddenlv my "day off" has become a workday. Building a small business follows you into the weirdest moments. I've learned to keep a running note in my phone so I can capture an idea without immediately making it today's project. That little habit helps when founder brain refuses to respect the day off! So yes, it's Monday evening The oyster is gone My brain is still working! Fellow small business owners, makers, and market vendors: what does your "day off" usually turn into? Tell me in the comments. I know I'm not alone. . . . . .
