Grateful for the opportunity to volunteer at St. Ann’s Bay Hospital during the holiday season.
Thank you to the mothers who allowed me to be present in delicate moments, and to the nurses, midwives, doctors, PCAs, the nursing director, and the CEO for the warm welcome and openness to service.

When I first reached out to the Ministry of Health, I assumed I’d be placed in one of the hardest-hit western parishes and fully prepared myself to rough it out for the appointed days. Instead, I learned that many displaced families were being routed to regional hospitals, increasing demand in places like St. Ann.

As it turns out, I have an aunt just 10 minutes from the hospital. So while volunteering 7a-3p each day, I was also held by home-cooked meals, a comfortable place to rest, family time, and the beauty of St. Ann. I even had the chance to visit Marcus Garvey’s home, one of my heroes.

Special love and thanks to my Auntie Carol for hosting me with such care. You are the MVP 💕

Leaving more encouraged, more committed, and deeply thankful. 🤍 #thepeoplesmidwife

❤ WISDOM ALERT ❤
"You need to take it slow and easy."

I am going to tag a few people in this video who I know will appreciate it.
We see so much pain and violence on the internet, I wanted to share the brilliance of a child with whomever chooses to listen.
"A LITTLE CHILD SHALL LEAD THEM" is most appropriate here.

Meet Nyhjah...a four and a half year old boy who lives in Jamaica (yes, born there). His parents are wonderful and they have been blessed with a precious gift in this remarkable child. Nyhjah's parents, Kharief and @ra_imei (Kimeisha) gives this young king loving guidance which is most apparent.

I share this video because the others (certain conversations) Nyhjah has requested be kept private. Oh how I wish everyone could sit and speak to this child and be amazed and blessed like we are.

My sistren @bushlifeja was in deep conversation here with Nyhjah in this clip she recorded. It's not only what was recorded here, but what was not that has us amazed. In this conversation she was telling Nyhjah that she could not focus or think because there was so much going on in her head. He was telling her to "empty" her thoughts.

I met this little prince when he was a little over two years old, and please believe me when I tell you he was eloquent and articulate then. Parenting matters, and my respect goes out to Kharief and Kimeisha.

Things Nyhjah has spoken has given answers to some questions I had been pondering. Keep in mind that he will not be 5 until Sept, 2022.

Don't you just want to hug him?
❤ 💙 💜

I hope this little prince put a smile on your face.

There is still love and HOPE in the world.

❤ 💙 💜
