Left the audio in for the immersive experience of being yelled at by @guiggysmalls and @coach.cat.vo for 60 seconds while you struggle with tunnel vision and blacking out pulling more than double your body weight for an attempted 40 reps.

Given this extended timeline until the next event more than likely being in April again, working on my jumps a bit more precisely while using the holiday season as a means to gain structure for the bench press, will lend for a big score boost.

How’s everyone else game planning their training for next year?

Today’s #FridayFeature is a game-used ball from Team Canada’s first no-hitter - a joint effort by three Canadian pitchers - which has been signed by the 2021 team!

Andrew Albers started the game, going 7 scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts. Brendan McGuigan and Ben Onyshko followed up with an inning and a pair of strikeouts each.

This game was played as part of the 2021 WBSC Baseball Americas Qualifier, with Team Canada trying to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.

I love @apexathlete.official. A freak show of athletes from around the world who share a love of training. Life is better when I have something I’m training for.

That said, when I started cramping on the 40 I couldn’t wait for it to be over.

Fast 40 - 4.395
Toss - 65’11”
Broad Jump - 10’6”
Vert - 39.5”
405 - 28 reps
225 - 8 reps
Mile - 5:31

20 boluses of IV saline - gotta figure that out

A summer well spent. Thanks @timrileytraining and all the APEX coaches who make the event such a party.

The Pull: 405x36 reps

An ELITE time competing at @apexathlete.official

Pretty stoked with my performance, I hit some big PRs most notably in the 40 (-.12), med ball (+4’6), vert (+3.5 in) and deadlift (+2 reps). Once again the mile kicked my ass 💀💀but all around a great time!

Huge thanks to @fotosgallegos for these videos. The full YouTube video will be up later this week on the @apexathlete.official YouTube channel which will be 🔥🔥. The first 6 episodes are live now, @fotosgallegos is the GOAT and it has been such an honor being apart of the Apex training series.

Just super fortunate to be healthy and get to do cool stuff like this. Apex has made training so much more fun and actually gives me something to train for. Thanks to @timrileytraining for creating such an elite event & environment.

Time to start CardioMAXXING

As I sit on a plane flying across the country, I can’t help but reminisce on the past 9 months of this year.

So much has changed and continues to change but just as it was when I had an identity crisis almost 10 years ago… training has remained a constant for me.

Working towards something and building up the excitement to compete with others doing the same has given me a rekindled tenacity that I lost when football ended for me.

It’s not the game itself that I miss. It’s the locker room. The camaraderie. The beauty in the struggle along side teammates. Nothing was able to replace that… until now.

I mean it when I say this competition means more to me than people realize. It’s a revitalizing and reinvigorating feeling that I didn’t realize I needed in my life.

I’ve talked about it before, when your entire identity revolves around being an athlete for the first two decades of your life, you have to input something into your life to replace the sport once it’s time to hang up the cleats. That void has to be filled or you’ll search for years like I did.

For me, this is it. Find whatever it is that YOU are after and go all in.
