What a night, "Sleeping with Knives," was!! It is still with me.
Women sharing, not monologues, they were songs, they were poems and cries and laughter and music and light and blood and struts and tears and ghosts and a willingness to make an offering... a sacrifice

Sometimes I feel like ego and money and transaction and TV and Movies and Broadway, and fame and "the industry," I don't know it can get me down, definitely partly cuz I want to win more work more make more get more...

But what I got sitting in that room last night... and not only from the gorgeous artists... but also from all the out loud reactions in the audience... the compassion the love the joy the pain... the community....

SO happy and honored and blessed and grateful to be there sitting next to my dear friend my brother Daniel Carlton

It was the definition of theater... human truth the beautiful nature and humanity transcending our physical forms... even even when describing unspeakable circumstances.. disturbing and violent and horrible and unjust... the courage to go there... as if in a way, all our lives depend on it....

I am just filled with such gratitude and love for all of you. And best of all to also see there Fred Orange, a mentor and old friend from the days so many of us were teaching artists at Hospital Audiences Inc(HAI). Thank you Benja Kay for making it all happen!!
