This summer, I headed to Montana to explore new rivers and new drainages. This is a story about one of the newest rivers in my river log.

Beyond Blowovers follows @audreyladd and me on our back packing trip into and our paddle down the Middle Fork of the Flathead. a trip filled with endless blowdowns, a long hike, and an unforgettable stretch of white water.

Catch the premiere at the Arkansas River Film Festival, sponsored by @riverstationgear. If you can’t make the festival, the film will be released on YouTube that same night just follow the link in my bio. 🎬

A huge thank you to @gunnisonkayakprogram, @ted_dubya, and @zootownsurfers. This film wouldn’t have been possible without your support and friendship. Thanks for making this an unforgettable summer. 🤙

Part 3 of the Packraft Instructor Course hosted by @gunnisonkayakprogram and sponsored by @zootownsurfers.

By the final days of training, the crew was linking together everything they’d learned throughout the course river reading, boat control, rescue skills, and guide communication. What started as a group of paddlers finished as a team of instructors ready to share Montana’s rivers with others.

A huge congratulations to Zoo Town’s newest packraft instructors: @davovicker, @audreyladd, and @cullin.ranney.

The season is here, and we can’t wait to get more people on the water. Whether it’s your first time in a packraft or you’re looking to build your skills, come experience Montana’s rivers with us.

Day four of the Packraft Instructor Course hosted by @gunnisonkayakprogram and sponsored by @zootownsurfers.

After four days of training on the water, Zoo Town’s newest packraft instructors @davovicker, @audreyladd, and @cullin.ranney finished the course strong. Instead of calling it a day after a successful run, the crew hiked back upstream for another lap through a Class II+ rapid they nicknamed “Packraft Flipper.”

Moments like these are what packrafting is all about: building skills, gaining confidence, and sharing great days on the river with an incredible community.

Ready to experience Montana’s rivers for yourself? Join us on a packraft adventure with @zootownsurfers.
