🇨🇦 Spring in Canada 🇨🇦

This season has been very strange! Lots of highs and lows. I’ve found myself a bit closer to consequence than I prefer to be; I’ve been thinking more about my own motivations outside.

I am very grateful to have made it home safely all season, for my friends and family supporting me, and to have had the opportunity to see so many beautiful places. So lucky to live up here!!

While running down the back end of the Asulkan traverse this past fall, I remember making a mental note of the terrain to the west of the pass thinking about how cool it would be to explore the range ‘over there’.

After a day skiing on the pass, we made a split decision to pack up four days’ worth of food and supplies and go find out what waited on the other side.

First 4 months in Canada have been incredible!!

It has been a great way to end 2025. I am so grateful to the people who make my life incredible and for the opportunities that have allowed me to be here. Grateful for old friends who make the trudge out to visit me and grateful for new friends who bring me to new places! Grateful to be researching snow science here, and grateful to have skied 17 couloirs over 19 days with 15 friends; about 12 couloirs in powder. Let’s hope 2026 brings good snow and great adventure! 😁

Colorado is a special place.

Some of the most beautiful mountains on the planet are there. Peaks and valleys and lakes and couloirs glitter than landscape and make it worth visiting. But thinking about what truly makes it special — it isn’t really the mountains. The community and camaraderie and family make it worth living in and loving.

Leaving is not so easy and I I’m already missing the people and places that make it special. But change is integral for growth; what I need right now is space. To push the boundaries of who I am and what I’m capable of. BC has the same (if not more!) geographic appeal, and I’m excited to discover the communities that almost certainly will make this place special. 🇨🇦

Uhh, I’m thinking we’re back

What a privilege it is to live in the Rockies. This season I’ve had the extreme pleasure to explore deeper into RMNP and the peaks that rise just miles from home. Seeing nearly every basin and exploring the ways they connect is extraordinarily fulfilling. Revisiting other ranges like the Winds and the Gore; building a map of our world has allowed me to build a much deeper connection with the landscape. Building new connections in the San Juans provided that unique sense of wonder you get when you can’t stop but laugh the beauty. Even the frustrations of the elks this year served to build respect and appreciation for what we get. There is no more freeing way to explore at this scale.

Moving away will be hard and while I will certainly miss the connection to my home mountains, I intend to make the most of my time home and abroad and I hope to build a strong connection with the Coast, Columbia, and Selkirk mountains, ones that rise much higher, in more convoluted ways, and in more extreme environments. I will miss my mountains and my mountain family. Keep the dream alive and ski with me in Canada!😄
