BIG ORANGE FRIDAY 🧡🏈

There are some Knoxville spots that just feel like game day. From grabbing fried chicken before kickoff to dinner by the Tennessee River, these are a few of those classic Knoxville places that have become part of the tradition:
🏈 Calhoun’s on the River
🍗 Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken
🍔 Litton’s
🥩 Ye Olde Steak House
🍝 Louis’ Restaurant & Drive-In
🍔 Sam & Andy’s
🥪 Gus’s Good Times Deli
🦪 Chesapeake’s

One of my favorite parts of living in East Tennessee is that Saturdays here are about so much more than football. It’s the traditions, the local places, the people you meet there, and the memories that make Knoxville feel like home.

And as a local real estate broker, that’s one of my favorite things to share—the lifestyle that comes along with calling East Tennessee home. 🏡

Which Knoxville classic is part of YOUR game day tradition? 🧡

Same as other fellow UT Alumni, Gus’s Good Times Deli was on e of my favorite restaurants on campus, especially I stayed at Melrose Hall almost all the time.

The UT Team kindly arranged a lunch at the legendary restaurant and we had a blast.

Gus’s current management team is also amazing supporters of GOTB, sending T-shirts, stickers and other items.
Thank y’all!!!

One of the pictures I took with Gus himself was taken in 2019, not this trip.

We’re in Knoxville! @gusgoodtimes Was the inspiration for NSC in 2020 and had to make the pilgrimage. Roast beef and pepper jack, Aaron & Gerald do an amazing job. Gus retired back in 2001 and Aaron & Gerald have taken the mantle ever since. Genuinely the best steamed sandwich I’ve ever had and the steamer traps in the flavor. Get the fries when you go, some of the best fry salt I’ve ever had. Fun fact, @gusgoodtimes sold their fry salt during COVID and I got hooked.

Aaron said this today, and it reminds me why I always come back.

“Phillip Fulmer, Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley, Butch Jones, all of them. They’ve come and gone and we’re still here after all these years. I’ve been doing this since I was 19 and this is my craft. I love it here and I never want to leave.”

Gus’ Good Times Roast Beef & Pepper Jack: 8.8/10

Love this town and love this place, GBO today!
