Hello hello

It has officially been two years since we started NoCents. Yesterday marked the first gig that kicked off the vision that is NoCents. In that time we have hosted many many gigs, seen so many smiles and been lucky enough to watch some incredible artists hit the stage all over our beautiful city.

A lot of teams say they are for the artist and about the music and aren’t really walking the walk. I (Giacomo) wanted to brag about what I think the greatest success of NoCents has been over the last two years. I went back through our shitty budgeting system in google sheets and figured out how much money total had come in from gigs.

We made $13969.42

No small feat from a small team of idiots. We do all of this in our spare time while studying, working, making sure we have time to enjoy our lives and spend time with the families we love. But do you want to know the best part about that number? We paid out $12065.94 of it. While yea this only equates to 6,000 a year and in the grand scheme of things thats fuck all its still something we are incredibly proud of. As a team who does everything by the skin of our teeth we know what an extra $200 can do for an artist who needs that new mic or needs their newest track mixed and mastered.

All the rest of the cash has been spent on audio, lighting and recording gear that we have used to improve and elevate our ability to function as independent event organisers. As you can see from above we truly believe in the DIY culture

With the money we made from tickets and by slinging a few t-shirts and the generosity of those who buy them we now have a fully functional portable set up which we are bringing to a park near you. The last Sunday of every month. Open decks. Anyone and everyone is welcome. If you are a DJ or an artist and need practice performing come hang out.

WE LOVE MUSIC. WE LOVE YOU. THANK YOU TO EVERY SMILE AND EVERY ARTIST WHO HAS GRACED OUR PRESENCE.

We have schemes on the rise. Always. We are trying to build a new and ever more independent way to bring you the local music you love.

A special one. Thanks to everyone who came out it genuinely means the world to me to get on stage and to have people I love there to celebrate makes it that much more special.
