This was a fun day. Can't remember if we actually made any money but it was great to have a little mini festival. Brainchild of Nic. He finally got the cucumber sandwich rider he'd been craving his entire life.

August 9 tracklist + interviews right here. Full show recording + two interviews are up on the 2ser website which you can find at the link in bio.

A distinctly local tracklist here with lots of great stuff having been released in recent weeks.

Interview #1 with @guyblackman, founder of the hugely important indie record label Chapter Music and its newly established reissue sublabel Chapter Epilogue. There are already 5 (re)releases on Chapter Epilogue, ranging from Sydney punk era compilations to early ‘00s shoegaze and dream pop recordings. They are all excellent.

Interview #2 with Eora/Sydney’s most prolific live act @kittyofthevalley_. They’ve just released ‘Krautrock’, one of the first songs they’ve ever written and a constant of their relentless live show. It is also excellent.

Episode 59 features Guy Blackman.

Alongside Ben O’Connor, Guy has been one half of @chaptermusic . Originally creating the label in Perth in the early ‘90s, they would go on to be behind countless Australian releases over a 30 year period, putting out music for the likes of The Cannanes, The Goon Sax, Twerps, Dick Diver, Laura Jean, Sweet Whirl, and The Stevens. Today, Ben and Guy have taken a step back from putting out new releases, mainly focusing on compilation albums and reissues.

On this episode, Guy speaks about the beginnings of Chapter Music, his current day to day, navigating relationships with bands and artists, the state of Australian music, and more.

Hope y’all enjoy.

One of the few photos of the first Sleepy Township lineup 1994-1995 - L-R Guy Blackman (guitar, vocals), Mia Schoen (bass), Paul Williams (drums). This photo was taken on the ferry to Rottnest Island sometime in early 1995. We all moved to Melbourne together in August 1995 and played a few more shows before Paul moved to Brisbane and Chris Gorman joined on drums.
