We’re so proud to share that ‘THE HERRING QUEEN’ has been nominated for a Scottish BAFTA in the Short Film and Animation category📽️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The film was made as part of the 2025 Netflix Documentary Talent Fund. We are proud to work alongside Netflix on this amazing fund! Set in the small Scottish fishing town of Eyemouth, the film captures the crowning of a 14 year old girl at The Herring Queen festival, a tradition that the community has kept alive for generations. At its core, the film is about the importance of holding onto community and heritage through changing times, particulary for fishing communties facing the impact of climate change. It’s a wrap! 🎬 We’ve just finished production on Albie Swingler’s short documentary, The Garden We Made, for the Netflix Documentary Talent Fund. The film centres on the residents of Tonic Housing, the UK’s first LGBTQ+ retirement home, exploring their lives sixty years after the partial decriminalization of homosexuality in the UK. Over four days, we filmed with 10+ residents, 12 supporting artists and 34 crew members across iconic locations including the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club and London Embankment. A huge thank you to the incredible crew who worked tirelessly to bring Albie’s creative vision to life. We can’t wait to share more!! Been thinking about self tapes recently. How advanced they have become. So much time, care and effort put into them. A mini film that you create with perfect lighting, sound and camera framing. But one of my favourites, this one, which booked me an amazing film, was simple, no overthinking, no additional lighting, no backdrop, just me whilst completely inhabiting the character. And I got cast! 🙌 Such a joy to be part of this incredible film @oyakodonfilm and to work with the brilliant @gydonovan & @storycompound 🫶 Can’t wait for the world to see it! 🎥🎬
