What a wild week! I’m only just catching my breath. 🫁

As usual, @dive.with.jess and I spent most of our time laughing and running on high energy—heavily assisted by caffeine, of course! 😅

This competition was amazing thanks to all the support from the South Dakota community. Even before we landed @shamelessmule had given us a thorough briefing and took us scouting! The info was invaluable and the ride back in was so much fun. 🎉

Everyone at Oahe Dive Shop (and pawn shop!), was so helpful with gear rental and information 🏆 Their support was priceless, and it's honestly the friendliest dive shop I’ve ever visited. If you ever want to try diving Lake Oahe—and you definitely should—give Michael and his team a call! They will set you up for the best adventure!!! 🫶🏼

Scouting days were long and went along too fast!!!

Then came tournament day! Nerves quickly turned into excitement as we set out with the best captain, Tom (aka "Long Hair" https://longhairfishing.com/ ) An absolute gentleman that gave us all the help we could ask for! If you ever need a fishing guide and captain, he’s your guy. 🎣

The competition was a huge challenge. The lake was beautiful, but the fish were easily spooked, so we had to learn how to hunt multiple species fast. Then came the wild ride of the Tailrace—the section below the dam where the current was so strong I felt like a superhero assassin flying underwater, dodging boulders and shooting fish on a split second's notice! I’ve never experienced anything like it, and while it took a minute to get my head around it, it was SO much fun. I can’t wait to do it again! ♥️

Thanks to Jess for being her badass spearing self! Absolute monster in the water 💪🏼 Thanks to the Outpost Lodge for hosting the event and @nationalfreshwaterspearfishing for organizing it! Huge thanks to the sponsors especially Waihana and Hawaii Rubber for my prizes! They keep these events running!!!

And special thanks to my ♥️ @gymg_eek for all the pep talks and endless support. He always keeps me positive and reminds me of my own abilities! 💪🏼

We have similar interests but have different levels of chill 🤣 I take pool time seriously! But also I had new bands put on my gun so I wanted to make sure I could still load it.

Also, Rob knew what he signed up for when he asked me to marry him 😆😘 so don't feel too sorry for him!

I also wanted to work on my accuracy as I have missed some easy shots lately 🫪 So hopefully I can be as accurate next time I'm in the ocean! 🐠

How do you practice for spearing?

Florida's lobster mini-season started with a 3am alarm ⏰ but I actually was already awake from all the excitement for what the morning would hold. 🙏🏼

Starting at 4am with an amazing troop of women ready to hit the water. Armed with torches (Aussie for flashlight), snares and nets... we headed out into the sea. The first hour we spotted a bonnet shark, turtles but only a few lobsters.

Then we saw a hogfish that I managed to land with my @skeeprong sponsored carbonfiber polespear!!!! It's amazing how this lightweight pole made it easy to land this beast of a hogfish. 💪🏼 I had shortened it for both days (another winning feature of this pole) because my focus was on finding lobster but even then it made light work of spearing fish! 💙 I'll never stop being grateful for this wonderful tool!!

With the hog tucked into the cooler we started to see more lobsters. Some were out for walks, others we just saw their antennae and others we only saw when we looked under the ledges. Quickly we started to fill the bags!! @dive.with.jess landed a monster of a lobster ! We didn't limit out but we got close! 🙏🏼 Either way, we got more than enough to have a gorgeous lunch together (big thanks to @amandapandadelosa for hosting) and still had a few to take home.

Day 2 was a normal start with the amazing @wild__faye We managed to find a few lobsters but some had eggs and others too small. We got to throw them back for the next generations of lobsters! Then Faye spotted a lovely big hogfish which I was able to land. Then on the way in a yellow jack swam by while I was sitting on the bottom hoping for something to shoot! Happy luck!!!

I'm now laying on the couch exhausted but elated! 💙

Rob's early birthday weekend to see his favorite band, Mayday Parade in California! We jammed so many things over the 3 days we were there it felt like a week!! ♥️

The concert was so amazing! The band put on an epic show. Rob was in his element singing every single lyric until he couldn't speak 😅 So thankful for the cameo of Derek that I showed him before the flight to Cali 🌞 It was the best start to the weekend!

I got to sneak in some wine tasting in the countryside plus some dim sum in the oldest Chinatown in North America and largest outside of Asia!! 🎉 The Muir National Monument was breathtaking and seeing the redwoods made my year. Stunning hiking! Down to the beach to touch the water, first time seeing the Pacific for Rob. Then a day in the home to the hippie revolution with Rob coming home with the most epic tattoo ♥️

Thank you San Fran and California for a beautiful weekend! Although that was the coldest summer weekend of my life!!!!

Yellowstone 💛

I honestly didn't think I would be as awestruck as I was. I thought maybe, with everyone talking it up so much, I would be underwhelmed. I was dead wrong!! It was even more spectacular than anyone could ever describe.

I even found myself getting emotional watching Beehive Geyser erupt. It was a huge and stunning reminder of how powerful and amazing nature is. We also felt so fortunate that we happened to be walking by as the indicator geyser started to erupt letting the crowd know that this irregular timed geyser (erupting a maximum of twice a day and hadn't erupted in 26 hrs) was about to go!

Thank you Grand Teton for being beautiful! 💙

Thanks for the beautiful hike around Jenny Lake, Inspirational Point and the falls! Absolutely loved the fishing (anywhere we could and while catching nothing), bears, mooses, lots of bison and stunning views.

White water rafting down the Yellowstone River. It was freezing, but so much fun!!!! 💙 A great cap to a beautiful journey through Grand Teton and Yellowstone.

I'm googling whitewater courses now. 😅 I am aware I do NOT need another hobby but...
