Our Chapter Spotlight for this week is H4H Texas A&M! Chapter Exec: President: Angela Nguyen Vice President: Manu Saisivakumar Treasurer: Mia Moore Secretary: Jeffrey Shaffer Recruitment: Josh Mahato Medical Information Officer: Anna Nguyen Community Outreach Officer: Thomas Vela Current Members: 30 active members! New Chapter Initiative: They have started community service activities at general meetings. Recently, their members assembled dental kits with dental hygiene supplies for people in need in their community! Campus Involvement: They are involved with BUILD, a project-based volunteer organization at Texas A&M, to construct mobile health clinics from scratch. The fully made clinics are shipped out to organizational partners across the globe to serve communities in need. They are very grateful for their members’ involvement in this uniquely valuable student effort. Chapter Growth: H4H TAMU is a relatively new addition to the H4H family, founded in Spring 2021. Since then, the chapter has grown significantly, finding new ways to serve the local community. To reflect their growth, H4H TAMU offers regular blood pressure screenings at multiple locations in the area and several other community service events for members. Community Involvement: They hold blood pressure screenings in the Bryan-College Station area, one of the most medically underserved parts of Texas. These events would not be possible without the collaboration of their community partners, including the Salvation Army branch of Brazos County and Twin City Mission, a local volunteering organization that supports the homeless and people in need.
